  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What do you think about the supply rate ?

How to order a Scarlet-X like a Canon (TM):
1) Quit whining. Cancel Scarlet order if you will.
2) Wait until summer arrives and Scarlet is in stock.
3) Order.
4) Receive.
5) ???
6) Profit!

There. Happy?

Not sure. I guess that Scarlet will be for at least a year on backorder. Maybe in 2013 you'll be able to order and receive only in few days/weeks a Scarlet-X.

This thread has clearly gotten out of control with flaming and personal attacks (one person even attacked another's NAME!). I think we are all allowed to discuss the wait times and order status. I think if you're tempted to flame because you don't like another's wait time, or (in one case) make provable libelous comments, it would be best not to comment or even visit this discussion. Let's keep it civilized. I have asked a moderator to visit this thread.
Problem is that you aren't doing it the civilized way. If you stated it was your opinion that your Scarlet-X won't arrive before DD/MM/YY date then fine. But you state it as a fact that it won't happen -- something that starts sounding far too close to authoritative considering the official nature of these forums. Fine, we get it, you don't "believe" that you'll get your Scarlet before 2015 -- that's fine by me.

You're allowed to discuss. Sure. But what is there to discuss? The wait is what it is -- nothing will change that.

That's your belief. I, and many others, don't share it. Have a bit of faith or wait until you feel the delivery times are more reliable. That's all.

I get the complaining.

I'm pretty far down the list for reasons that I don't need to go into, and I regret not jumping in earlier. While I understand that it's not their business practice to disclose numbers, I don't think it's too crazy to have backorder information upon ordering, just so you know what you're getting into.

Even something like "Shipping in 3-6 months" would have made people aware they were waiting. All we knew was that it was shipping December 1st (or November 17th depending on the mount), nothing about numbers or anything.

I think a lot of RED apologists need to understand where people are coming from here...and I think the quote that people are bringing up from Jarred (the February thing) was older than the Scarlet's release. So I don't think that applies here.

I'm 4024 or something, and I'm expecting April-June...and that's fine. I have my expectations set, if it's later, whatever...if it's sooner, awesome. But with no expectations set up front, it's difficult to wrap your head around the process.

I would be careful if I were you. Despite how unhappy it clearly makes you that we all discuss possible delivery times, suggesting what you are about the guys and gals in the Bomb Squad could be considered libelous.

In any case, if the discussion of delivery times upsets you then look elsewhere. The strange thing is that the longer the theorized delivery time, the bigger the hissy fits people have. Folks are actually whining about someone else's wait time! Be patient, everyone. :). Stop the personal attacks (because I report them, as well as the libelous ones). :). Be happy :)

...All Arnold needs for Christmas is a sense of humor. Maybe someone around here will have some extra to hand out.

Production

Production

Considering the low price point of the scarlet and the cost of production, producing 250-300 a month does not sound economically viable. I'm certain they'll be ramping up production soon, I don't really see how it would be possible to produce this product and sell it at the price point, even after raising the price next year, at 250 a month. I'm not expecting my Scarlet soon, but i really doubt it'll take 9 months.

Just my thoughts,

Keep up the great work RED, I look forward to to being an owner!

i'm new to RED. ordered my scarlet on november 18th. i probably won't see it any time soon, but hoping for the best.

in the meantime, i shoot on 3 5DIIs. i love 'em, and still smile when i see some of the images i get out of them. i remember clawing at the door waiting for the FedEx guy to bring me my first 5DII. i try to remember that. also, not having the scarlet yet doesn't stop me from working.

rather than sweat the wait, i try to savor the anticipation a bit... the minute i actually get the scarlet, the magic and imagination will start to wane a little. until it's inevitably the camera i 'have to shoot on' until the new RED "CORDYCEPS" sensor is slated for relase. doubtlessly so named for its ability to infect the minds of cinematographer types, forcing them to climb trees and shout "RED!" to unsuspecting passers-by.

Just to be clear once and for all, since we are talking about a professional cam with which we should work I am interested in having a certain term of delivery iF it's one month or a year.
Differently for hobbyists or hobby collectors that doesn't care.
Fortunately or unfortunately, this is not a problem for me anymore, since my order of 3 November has been reversed.
