  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Who knows, I am in the first good number of orders, as are many and we're yet to even hear a whisper from RED. Did anyone get an allocation today? Is there a visible ramp up on the list. There must be a ton of orders not on the list or a different priority scheme. That list looks the same as a week ago give or take 3 or 4 orders...

I hear you. I think though I have finally gotten over the pain of waiting and entered the RED zen zone. No use wasting time being anxious over things you can't control.

In the meantime, it's been a blessing in disguise. Money I had set aside for all the accessories I needed has now been diverted to other camera equipment which will work with things I already own and with the Scarlet when it does arrive. When I get that allocation notice hopefully I will have built most of it back up. If not, no worries, I've waited this long and can wait a bit longer to get my full kit up to speed. And when it arrives good times will follow.

Ill say..I never really held out much hope of getting it before next year..in fact the only time i start getting worked up is when i check out this forum! should be a prize for the first one in Oz.. oh wait!
 
Due to shipping, I've already cancelled certain accessory orders I would have otherwise purchased from Red directly. I've opted for buying from individuals at a fraction of the cost.

I won't be surprised if USED Scarlet's begin popping up online before we even get our Canon mount orders allocated. I'll be the first to jump ship and cancel if that does occur -- or if I don't have the product I've already fully paid for by February!

Lol. I am happy if I have it by end of February, as is a reasonable expectation...

though I did JUST get a call for a feature end of January! All I can say is "Maybe!?" We will know when we know.
 
I predict the AL Canon mount Scarlet-X orders starting to go out mid January, given the current status of the touchscreens and the side handles. Also, an educated guess; they're making 12-15 Scarlet cameras a day, which is why they're sending out PL orders now. I think the thought process must be "if they're ordering a PL mount camera, more than likely, they've already got/had a RED camera and it's accessories" Along that same thought process: "if they're ordering a Canon mount Scarlet-X, they're coming from the DSLR realm and will be confused by not getting the sidehandle and lcd screen at the same time as receiving the camera"

Anyone think I'm completely off base with the above?

Mines a canon mount .ive got the batts and some cards and a clutch and just got a confirm on a touch screen if i want it shipped separately right now.. no hint of camera yet though.. ah the mysterium of Dr jarred.. been trying to bully a guestimate of delivery out of my bomb rep.. hes cool but remains cagey as ever..
ah well back to work..come here little 5D!
 
Well I just sold my AF-100 package, so I hope my Scarlet gets allocated soon. Stumbled upon a great opportunity to sell it so I couldn't resist. Now my Scarlet is half paid for! :biggrinjester:

Unfortunately I think that is a reality RED might face if it takes that long. It allows for new announcements and responses from other companies. If someone can release something with 4K abilities and similar frame rates at a competitive price and are ready to ship, they may lose some of those waiting for shipment still. Some people need to be out there shooting. If I'm looking past February I might considering cancelling my order and just saving for an Epic-X or watching for used ones, since a couple are already popping up.
 
I've been informed that a 2011 delivery is highly improbable for my Canon AL mount (SO 50988). Not a big deal, had one shoot I would have REALLY loved to have it on, but will make due with the rest of my arsenal. Here's to a wonderful 2012 to all!
 
I have no problem canceling my order and going with the C300 or an F3 if great jobs start popping up before my Scarlet gets here. But as of right now, it's the holidays, Hollywood is slow so I have some time to wait.

I'm kind of in the same boat. If it really is pushing out to far I'll likely have to go another direction, especially if cameras are coming out and shipping around Nov 3rd Scarlet orders.

I started visiting the forum because I wanted to see updates and news about the Scarlet. But I found that as read more and more about people getting there cameras, I started to wonder when I would get mine.

I started to think I was in a line, and that because my perceived place was not that far, that I would be getting my camera soon. Soon turned into later, later turned into someday, and I started to feel like something went wrong. Did my order not go through, did I make a mistake by not giving Red all the money upfront, did I piss someone off. I don't thinks so.

So rather than worry about it I decided to take a break from the forums over the weekend. And you know what, it was wonderful. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of very cool people sharing some cool things on this forum, and I'll stop back once a week or so. But you know what they say, a watched pot never boils.

Today on the backorder update page they are up to October 5th for the TI Cannon mounts. My suspicion is that after they get through the TI mount backlog they will re-purpose some of the milling machines to start making AL Cannon mounts as the amount of TI's getting ordered is small at this point in time.

I think we will see a huge ramp in the next month. Once you see some going out in force you will all feel better...
