  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Cannot Update Epic - Mac Lion OS

Just upgraded to lion on my edit system, and the Redmag shows up, but read only. I need to drop the firmware upgrade on the Redmag, but no can do.

Permissions has no lock visible to change to read / write on the Redmag.

You should be running red Watchdog. Check your task bar on top, you should see the red logo, right click on it and open up preferences.
You will see an option to mount red mags as read and write. Select it and there you go.

Lion is a little screwy, but needed for the new Avid Media Composer, which I am returning to since Apple messed up FCP so badly. Avid got a lot better while I was away, and with v 6.0 supports 3rd party hardware. So a real AJA HD SDI interface for $3K. And with the Red Rocket, plug and play for R3D.

How Lion can break your neck...
The Sonnet Tempo 4x sata card works flawlessly as hot-plug under snow leopard, with 3 external sata drives and redstation, reading and writing and rsyncing simultaneously.

Under Lion, the system does not recognize the redmag and suggests to format it!

One would think this is RED, but its the sonnet drivers, that have problems with Lion.

Lion feels a bit like leopard to me.
Snow leopard seems more mature at this point.

And since I just setup a fresh lion box, only to downgrade to snow leopard...

I would advise not to upgrade at this point.
MC6 runs fine on snow leopard in 64bit mode.
