  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Jarred/Brent.. a little reassurance would be good...

This has been addressed already in a few threads. I will try to break it down again:
* When you place an order, there is a timestamp on each item in your order.
* If you want to remove a item from your order, you need to notify your rep before order processing begins. Eventually, you will be able to do this on RED.com.
* If you remove an item, it does not affect your place in line (ie, your timestamp) on the remaining items on your order.
* You cannot "switch" items on an order. You have to cancel one, then place new order for another.
* You cannot add items to an existing order. For one thing, items fulfilled by that item order timestamp so no difference in fulfillment if on existing order or new. Same timestamp. By placing new, you can do it on RED.com without having to reach out to us.
* If you do not already have a rep, one will be assigned to you as your order is about to begin order processing.
* If you need a change to your order (per above) before order processing, a rep will be assigned to you and take care of that for you. Contact us via RED.com.

Again, please only contact us if you need us to directly assist you and your questions cannot be answered in our FAQ section or otherwise on RED.com.

Brent,

Great, thanks Brent... but doesn't address the original question... Could you guys throw us a wee crumb of comfort, and tell us that the AL Canon mount supply situation is well in hand, under Adult Supervision, and won't hold up the parade come Dec. 1st?

I think quite a lot of people have an interest in the answer to that!

Thanks!

Mike

I bet a lot of people would like to take delivery of their Scarlet body, even if the aluminum mount is not quite ready.

PL and Titanium Canon mounts are already out in the wild.

Hey Mike- don't you think "supply situations" fall under private information you dont want to share with the public? I mean does Apple or anyone offer that info?

I know I wouldn't. jarred has mentioned (day or two a go) that they are adding machines and training rockstars everyday.

Jim also recently said ALL back orders should be cleared by February.

I know people worry, but RED is growing to meet demand and we have a (relatively) FINITE date from the BIG DOG's mouth when all is expected to be caught up
thats worst case. (within 90 day of Dec 1)

Mmm, obviously a bit of confusion on this. I was told I couldn't add to or modify my order also. So I have already shipped a few extras items to Australia separately. Paid more in shipping this way... but it meant I paid and got delivery for those before the US dollar strengthened I guess. Though still likely came out at a loss. I guess fiddling and re fiddling with orders, especially with the amount they have to ship, could prove a potential nightmare, so the policy makes sense, and you guys probably just slipped through and got lucky I'm thinking.

I'm SO #909 btw

Exciting times :)

Best Wishes all

Lliam
Liam,

You can subtract items from that order without losing your spot. You can not add to the actual order. But you can order additional items separately as it sounds you already did.

Agreed Mike, this was all I was asking after Nov 17th and now we are coming up to Dec 3rd. It isn't that we are looking for exact specifications, amount of ordered Scarlets and proprietary information, but since we invested money based on a date that RED provided, they should let us know what is going on. If RED said on Nov 3rd, hey buy a scarlet but we are not sure for any dates or availability, only a select few would have purchased. I bought based on Dec 1st ship dates. I don't expect that exactly, but we should have some answers and info sent by now to make sure this is still the plan.

Please remember there was never a promise that EVERY Scarlet-X w/ Canon mount would begin shipping Dec 1st. The promise was that Dec 1st it starts going out to customers - from there on they expect to be out of "perennial backorder by february" (paraphrased). So, expect quite a few to go out by December's end and a lot more going out early Q1 2012 and you'll be pleased :-)

Tim, I couldn't disagree more. RED are *not* Apple and for that I'm profoundly thankful! I think the responses to the information and updates RED release should leave them in no doubt as to how thankful we are for that openness. What was the last time Apple shared pictures and names from one of their production lines?

Jarred *frequently* posts about the supply situation, backorder updates, 'we just got a big delivery of XYZ, it's getting QCed and going out next week' etc. etc. etc.

All I'm looking for is something like 'AL Canon mounts are on track and in stock, we should be churning Canon AL mount Scarlets out alongside TI & PL mounts as of Dec. 1st.'

Or of course a 'Sorry, last minute snag with the AL mount, we hope to start shipping those towards the end of December. TI and PL mount Scarlets will ramp up production as of the 1st, as predicted'.

That would be good advice in general. I'm lucky enough to have a very early Scarlet AL Canon order in, possibly as low as within the first hundred total Scarlet orders, and I have projects lined up that would allow me to start familiarizing myself with the camera starting the second week of December. Given the kind of fieldwork I do I'm pretty damn desperate to downsize to Scarlet!

One of my buddies is very close to my position in line, and his Bomb Squad rep told him there was a good chance his camera would ship (or at least the order start to be processed for shipment) ON the 1st, so I'm guardedly optimistic and I have a particular interest in finding out if things are still on track :-)

Ok.. I want to remove an item from my order. How do I get a rep then? Call a certain number? email? I've tried using the red.com contact sheet, but heard nothing.

I just want a ballpark estimate on when I get it.
Will it be 2011 or 2012?
