What lenses would you recommend me to buy for Scarlet X if money was no object to you, for Narrative shoots :bath:

Sheri,

I recommend that you use the search function of this forum. It sometimes can be cumbersome and not yield many results because of so many recent SCARLET posts.

I did a search for SCARLET and LENSES and came up with this:

http://www.reduser.net/forum/showth...nded-Canon-EF-lenses&highlight=scarlet+lenses

And this was a recent posting too.

Also, you may want to be more specific when asking questions in the future. Details like what lens mount you have on the SCARLET would help a lot. PL or Canon?

Now what's your actual budget? Or are you simply asking to see what the best lenses are.

your so money you dont even know it! id look into the canon mont because you can get some pretty good canon glass L for cheaper then PL, The Red Pro primes and even the RED zoom is a killer lens! i might hve a set out in vegas with me later this week playing out by red rock

Beyond the links given something to think about is how wide or long you'd like to go. Standard lengths commonly used in narratives usually exist in the 18mm through 135mm range.

You'll see a lot of cinematographers who like 3 to 5 primes or two zooms that cover a lot of range. It's really up to the shooter.

If you would like more creative range for a more "epic" perspective you'll be looking at lenses in the 8-16mm range. If you are looking to get real close up or want to shoot things really far away, 200-600mm.

I wanaa go to NAB since it in my backyard never been but hear awesome things as well how do you get in? and thanks sweetie

Thank you sweetie Also looking into replacing my canon 5D with the new 1D so I can use all my canon glass still

some of the glass I have have to admit bought them cause someone told me the more expensive the better they have worked out have done photos for all my girlfriends
Canon - 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 Canon - EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5
Canon - EF 70-200mm f/4L Canon - L-Series 50mm f/1.2L Canon - L-Series 35mm f/1.4L

Hi Sheri,

In my opinion, the only lenses that would be good for filmmaking in that list are the Canon - L-Series 50mm f/1.2L Canon - L-Series 35mm f/1.4L, and perhaps the Canon - EF 70-200mm f/4L. Fixed apature lenses are a must. The faster the better for the most part.

You have to register for NAB before hand, you can do it on the NAB website and if you dig around the internet for 2 minutes you can find a code for free pass.
My parents live in Henderson, I go every year. It's a great time.

Wow, cute chick living fun city with unlimited budget for filmmaking gear .... WILL YOU MARRY ME??? ;)

Just kidding, I'm already spoken for and did very well with my wife, but glad you're here and choosing to go with Red.

As others have noted:

- Best cine lenses in PL - Leica C
- Best manual still lenses - Leica M series
- Best larger format lenses with AF - Leica S
- Best 35mm still lenses with AF - Nikon G

The last one is debatable, there are some serious Canon fans here - but read up on Evin Grant's posts about the latest Nikon lenses.

Exceptional performance, even wide open or f2, making them an amazing performance/value combo.

LOL i'm sure ur wife is awesome I know have to get som one to help I don't think u can lift theses cams on ur own compared to a 5D Sheri L.

How I wish that I can have unlimited budget to spend on Epic for "hobby" shoot. For narrative shoot, zoom lens like Red Pro Zoom 18-85mm would do the job.
