epic video assist recording a 24p signal? Not 24psf? kona card FCP HELP!

HI,

Having trouble getting final cut and my kona card to record epics 24p output for on set video assist. I know the raptor people and q takes wrote some new code in there video assist software to be able to deal with the epic 24p signal but i don't feel like spending that kind of money just to record that signal from the epic. Anyone know of a way to convert this epic 24p to 24psf? I heard a video assist say he ran the 24p epic signal through a aja sdi to hdmi converter and that somehow let him record it with his hd raptor...hmmm. What to do? Thanks!

Nope RED do not support anything PSF.... Unfortunately

Thanks! I figured I coud use these(AJA KI PRO mini or Blackmagic Shuttle...) but this wont relly help me when the want a full video assist cart that can edit in FCP and do quick comps. I need a way for FCP to record it. Only thing I can think of is a format converter to go from 24p to 24psf or some format KONA and FCP both understand. THANKS!

Final cut is a crappy way to do Video Assist, you are asking for a headache. I would advise looking at appropriate Video Assist hardware, there are dozens out there.

bump for positive feedback/help! hehehe. FCP does video assist just fine and has for me for many many years... I used fcp and kona since they came out to do HD playback.
