EPIC-M Package For Sale

HERE ARE PICS OF THE PACKAGE FOR SALE

#695

Don't sweat the warranty questions. I was wondering the same. If someone has to buy a warranty, I would happily deduce that from the cost. I'm asking 58k since it's a complete package with all parts + a lot of essential gear to shoot IMMEDIATELY. If you have a reasonable offer, offer.

This is an important topic.

Like a fair number of folks, I hadn't anticipated the Epic schedule, and as a stage two holder who's X is arriving today, and who previously purchased an M and still in possession of my MX, I have one more camera that is practicable for a company my size.

I'm going to sell one of these guys, I just not entirely sure if its the X or my trusty MX.

Ye gods man!

Sell the MX. I love that camera too, but its not as capable, not as small, not as easy to use.

You can set an Epic X and an Epic M in a 3D rig if you need/want to ... can't do that with an MX and any Epic.

Perhaps a separate thread where we collectively ask for clarification of both warranty and transfer policies, and future upgrade path for Epic would be appropriate.

While it is important information, that I'd very much like clarification on, it seems like it should be in a separate thread, no?

Well, you can see Red's opinion on the value for the extra warranty.

The Epic M, aside from being machined, is essentially identical to the Epic X. I've handled both, and really the extra build quality of the M isn't a critical buying decision. Maybe someone from Red can share more light, but I think the M basically gets a lot more QA on account of being hand built ... and thus the extra warranty.

That two year warranty is, and I'd say it makes up the bulk of the value difference between these cameras.

I don't know the price difference exactly, but last I checked the 2012 price difference will be about $5000 ... so if all you get after an Epic sale is 90 days warranty (losing 1 year 9 months of warranty!), then I'd say the kit should be discounted around $9000.

Also ... an Epic X stage 4 package will have a longer warranty by 9 months. Ordinarily I'd say that places an upper bound on the value of a resold Epic M at about $4000 less than an equivalent Epic X package.

The countervailing value is that this package is ready RIGHT NOW. If I order an Epic M today I will not receive the entire package for some time.

For some people having a ready to run package RIGHT NOW is worth way more than these concerns. These are mostly people who stand a good chance of earning the price difference inside the 90 day warranty period. So maybe if I had two Epic features booked for rental for a month back to back.

For my real life, I'd probably prefer to pay for a new Epic X and get the warranty. (Or an Epic M if I purchase in 2012.)

Normally at this point I would ask that you discuss your camera philosophies in another thread instead of hijacking my For Sale thread, however I am taking this EPIC-M package off of the public market for the time being for personal contacts who made offers. However if anyone still notices any of my messages related to this thread, You can keep PM'ing me to add to the other PM/Email requests I've received when/if I decide to put it back up For Sale on this board. Thanks for reading.

For the record, Chris is a client of mine and a great guy. extremely trust worthy and a big user of red products. i have done dozens of jobs with chris and his sugar films crew they are great people to work with and for.

chris is one of the few directors that knows how to get the most out of the reds on set, in the edit bay and during the finishing process. he is a hands on guy that cuts his own spots and grades the finished products for the client...

all this to say, if any of you are worried about doing business with him, don't, i personally vouch for him if that means anything at all to any one interested.
