I believe you can also add the codecs on the Mac with the minimum purchase of Motion 5 for $50.

ONLY recently did i come across a minor well...really bothersome problem in Premier....GLOBAL CLIP re-linking.....I have a PPro project on my computer and saved to my main HDD....the clips are on another HDD, the actual renders on yet another HDD.....So had to pass this to an associate, so i copied EVERYTHING to one HDD for him....we installed HDD to his Mac...and we had to re-link each and every clip (287 clips) one at a time....by right clicking and then re-link.....THERE MUST BE ANOTHER WAY ??? i searched online and that was all i found --- the one clip re-linking...FCP was kind of easy in that respect....BUT, that said, im editing R3d files next to P2 & AVCHD files on same timeline---can't do that with FCPX....i'm a recent convert to PPro as of a few weeks ago...so trying to find all the minor items i'm used to with FCP.
Dude, if you edit like you punctuate!
You mean Windows? An application, like Nucoda's FilmMaster, shows, that it is possible to write Prores on Windows. Hasn't Clipster been doing it as well for a while now? But even on Mac it is not as straight forward, as it seems. You need FCS 3 installed in order to be able to write Prores.

Hi Johnny!
That does sound painful! I've got two suggestions for you though.
1. If you keep the folder structure the same of your raw footage, then when you first open the project on another system, locating the first file will often result in Premiere being able to locate all the other footage on it's own. However, if this fails see point 2.
2. The Project Manager will help you bundle up projects to send to other workstations or facilities. Just go to Project > Project Manager. It will let you select which sequences you want to include, whether you want to include all the original footage or provide trimmed versions, whether you want to include unused footage + more. It's what I use when I am delivering a project to a client or other facility as it ensures that a project file is made that is linked and prepared with all the necessary media.
Hope that helps! I wonder whether it would be helpful if I made some videos for new converts to Premiere Pro?

Interesting.
I have yet to try out PPro, but I promise, I will.
So, I'm curious. Does the project manager trims just the QT files or it can also trim R3Ds? If that is possible, that would be beautiful.
Just tested this Jake - Looks like it's a no-go unfortunately for R3D's. Even when I asked Premiere to trim clips with a handle of 25 frames - it still copied the whole clip. I might submit this as a feature request though - would be useful to have for the future.

Monkey Extract already added this capability. Storm has had it for a while.RED only recently added the ability to trim and last time I looked you lost the audio. this is something we would like to support at some point.
Cheers

The problem is with Long GOP (interframe) codecs, as I understand it. Do you have trouble with intraframe codecs, as well? If so, please log the bug here: http://www.adobe.com/go/wishPremiere Project Manager and Trimming needs to be revised in PPro, an option to rewrite the clips into a unified codec is important when you send to color grading.. I still don't know the optimum conditions that makes PPro trims the project well.. I'm only it can do it for DV footage.. any other footage works? otherwise, it copies the whole file in the new trimmed project..
