  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Everything changes...

I hope that a large part of drive was not just revealed to me, sixth sense was ruined for me please tell this movie has not been ruined as well.

Remeber *spoiler* would be nice (if needed) thing is for me any info is bad as I continue to look for it and read into where it will come as I watch ruining my experience. Not trying to be a dick just wondering... hey it's only one movie just sounds very good....

sorry for the off topic

change is good, in fact I just made a major life change though where I'm going I don't need roads... cause I don't have a car, so I'll need sidewalks!

O love this company's approach

I will be happy to have scorpion that can shoot 5k,5:1, for $17000 before Christmas.

I think some are trying to read too much into the scorpion and the frog comment. i'm content to think that while it's in the scorpion's nature to sting, it's in RED's nature to blow us all away by innovating straight to a place many iterations ahead of where anyone else would. sweeeet.

I'm sure you're right. I think Jim's references were about how RED can control the cockroach population (it's true... if you have scorpions in your home you will have few if any cockroaches), that is, the competition, and if they can't control their markets they will simply leap frog over them.

Or, he could be talking about something completely different.:undecided:

One thing is for sure, RED acts and everyone else reacts. Wether they have a preemptive warning or not from RED, it's still the same outcome.

I think you can assume it applies to everything we have in the works. Our competition has responded to where they think we are going. That changed a long time ago. :-)

Jim

You're playing this like an old spy movie. Love it. Why do I get the sneekin' suspicion we've seen the RED equivalent of these a long the way?

He he, always loved that Skorpion/Frog story, can't remember the name of that Movie were I heard it first, but just LOVE IT!!

Maybe you saw it in The Crying Game. Forest Whitaker tells the story in this scene (never mind his funny accent ;D ): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0I44-XPk2A

There is also a very short mention of it in the new film "Drive" with Ryan Gosling. Which btw. I recommend everyone go see!!! :)

Ok. I'm just gonna say it. "Drive" was filmed on what camera? Another thread mentioned that film in defense of that camera. Jim chimed in to that thread in which he commenced to "Thrashing" the individuals points of debate. Specifically related to "Resolution". I have not seen "Drive" but they make a reference to the Scorpion and the Frog in that film. Clearly this competition thing is enjoyable to Jim, as it should be. And this reference is to make a point. Obviously. Only filmakers could appreciate this, and of course most of us here are exactly that.

Enjoy Fellas! Red Team ain't playing! Great Stuff Jim! I got it right away. Nice!

...Everything in life changes. We are just the only ones in this industry that seems to embrace the concept and be proud of it.

Don't let this approach frustrate you. Embrace it. In every instance I can think of, the change was better than the idea or product it replaced.

Jim,

While I get the intent behind the "everything changes" philosophy, I fail to see why anyone would want to use this (from a marketing perspective).

Every time I read this, all that resonates in my head is "you can't rely on ANY announcements we make", which sounds very negative. I know that's not what RED means, but that's how it's perceived on the receiving end for many. I perceive this as a marketing "get out of jail for free" card.

For example, you've just posted about the upcoming November 3rd announcements, Jarred posted that Scarlet will ship before the end of the year. All very pleasant news to read, but those announcements immediately get crushed under the "everything can change" steam roller.

Another example: even if it's 100% certain (on your end) that Scarlet ships by the end of the year, we all know that until it actually ships, this announcement is meaningless, as are any and all other announcements.

Again, the intent behind the "everything changes" is fine, but it has so much negative implications that (I suspect most of us) it ruins any announcements that would otherwise get us pumped.

Lastly, you've recently posted about how RED will now only make announcements when it's ready to ship. Well in that case, doesn't this make the "everything changes" completely unnecessary?

Denis

I have to agree with Denis the spin does not work for me either and seems this time to be more of a reaction to Canon's announcement. But who knows? So assuming that the Epics S or Scarlet ships in January who can buy one? Does shipping mean internationally?
