The new Epic Backpack and cheese plate just arrived along with the new battery plate.
The backpack and cheese plate themselves are awesome, and very light. The battery plate is very heavy, not sure why...although it will be nice to have the battery plate attached to the Epic along with a short direct cable.

Looks nice Greg. I was looking at it in the RedStore this morning debating it vs. ActionProduct's similar offering. I'm not really interested in the cheese plate on the rear...haven't figured out what I would mount there as ususally that area is close to where my face/head goes when switching to hand-held. But the power module is definately a cool addition and looks like it creates a nicely balanced rig for-aft. Is that your finding?

I'm still a bit put off though by having to spend $1850 for a decent v-mount. Not that the cost will stop me if it looks like the best option. I do wish Red would offer a backpack/battery plate option. That would probably save a few hundred bucks. But at this cost, I will probably wait until the Battery Module is unveiled to see how that compares.

Greg that's cool, I ordered too...

That looks like an incredibly heavy and expensive way to hang a v-mount. I'm looking for something that could hang off the back of a clutch without adding so much weight. Hopefully with the right connector. The adaptor cable is one more part to keep track of, and two more connections that can go wrong.

can't wait for mine to arrive (both epic and backpack)....can't wait....

looks practical. What are the alternatives out there to mount a V-Mount battery, if some say this is an expensive way to do it?

how is the backback installed ?? screws??? did you have to unscrew something in the epic to put in?

four M-4 screws on the back of the Epic (over the Redmote connector)...dont need to remove anything.

Here is one of many uses for cheese plate on rear.
Havent checked balance yet, but love the option to attach brick directly on back.

I'll be using them for sure, but hand held, the rig will still be pretty front heavy (I think). Hanging a V mount on the rear of the clutch could be really helpful. Just thinkin while I wait..........

I've tried it out at the RED store. While the battery on the back helped, it was still a little front heavy with the Epic and RPP. I like the clutch a lot, but the shoulderpad it a bit on the hard side and it still BEHIND the camera. For this reason I opted to build my own rig around the ET Mantic shoulderpad. I want the bulk of the weight right on top of my shoulder. I'm on the short side too, so getting the camera a little higher up doesn't hurt. lol. Will post about it when I get all the pieces in.
