I love his work... Good for him!

Uzak being my favorite. That opening scene of the cousin walking through the snow for 10 minutes is amazing... also the sunken ships... i saw them last time i was in Istanbul several years ago. They are so cool. Jealous he got to use them as a backdrop first.... haha.

Ehy Denizhan, I'm a great admirer of Nuri Bilge Ceylan's films. Was "Once Apon a Time in Anatolia" shot on the RedOne MX? Thanks. Bob

Denizhan, did you work on it? or other Ceylan movies? I would have so many questions! You can't imagine what an inspiration NBC was for me.

I saw this film at the New Zealand film festival. It is slow, but gorgeous to watch, and I felt explored a reality based side of a crime, time and place amazingly while still being cinematic. Worth seeing, whatever it was shot on.

For those interested in the camera stuff for Once upon a time in Anatolia, after some check it has been shot with a F35 in HDCAM. See IMDB :

Camera
Sony F35

Film length (metres)
4310 m

Film negative format (mm/video inches)
HDCAM

Aspect ratio
2.35 : 1

I have been obsessed with Turkish cinema for a long time now. It is unbelievable how many auteurs have spawned out of Turkey in the past 20 years. Last year I independently was writing a wordpress blog leading up to the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival. I wrote a series of articles based upon the work of 2 Turkish auteurs. Those who are fans of NBC may also enjoy the films of Semih Kaplanoglu & Reha Erdem.

Reha erdem's "Kosmos" is remarkable ....

Ceylan is one of the greatest names of our time, legit successor of a prior tradition such as Antonioni's cinema for example. And he is alive and kicking (E :-)
