  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Does anyone use a Tandberg LTO-5 with Retrospect 8 on a mac?

Just purchased a Tandberg lto-5 drive. I have retrospect 8 but, at this stage, can't seem to get it to recognise the drive. Could be something I'm doing wrong or it might just be the software.
I'm using snow leopard osx on quad core tower. I can perform tests using Tandberg's driver software and everything checks okay. I'm now wondering if I need to use different software?

No idea about Retrospect but BRU works fine. Is it conneted FC or SAS os SCSI ?

Retrospect 8 doesn't work with an LTO 5 drive. Buy BRU PE, it is worth every cent and really easy to use. I went through the same heartache in Jan

SAS works fine we ahve a system here configured with SAS. But i think Adam is right.

Both BRU PE and BRU Server work fine. If you want to do adhoc back ups use PE if you want a more automated process use server. Both work fine and are well worth it.

At the outset just get your system set up correctly re Block and Write cache sizes etc. Run a couple of tests on a gash tape and when your happy then start your backups. Its a great system.

LTO 5 supports LTFS, so you can write to LTO 5 media like a drive, just like Retrospect, but without the cost.
