  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Professional...

WOW!
no more glitches while grading (it happened to me with all previous versions on a GTX580)
and it is so FAST!!
yes, with Redcine-X it was flickering while grading, with Redcine-X Pro it's gone, it's much faster. Windows7/GTX570.

It has been said many times, but I also want to thank the team that they kept the software free. No other company offers that.

So much talk about Steve Jobs being a visionaire that we forget this team being the same.

The little lines that show up on the histogram when you mouse over parts of the image, is there a specific name for that?

I need to know so I can spam Adobe with requests to add that to ACR as soon as humanly possible.

So cool.

Did I miss something/misinterpret something, or is there a RR2 now in the pipeline ready to be released?

It would make a ton of sense, because I always thought the Red Rocket was based on the chip in the Red One?

So now that Red has those nice ASICs in Epic, why not make a cheaper, faster, less-power-consuming Red Rocket 2 using them?

Either that, or enable GPU-based decoding? My friend who works in the compute dept in nVidia would be totally down to help Red implement GPU-based R3D decoding support. Last time we chatted, he was pretty sure they could do it (depending on the data structures & specifics). I've known him for 12 years and he's never been wrong about a coding problem.

But then yes, if we had a nice USB3 or Thunderbolt RedRocket2 (or just a little RedRocket that we could stick in a Thunderbolt enclosure if we had to), that'd be awesome :)

Heck, partner with nVidia and Blackmagic and make a Thunderbolt ultra-box with a RedRocket2, a GPU to accelerate DaVinci, plus HDMI 1.4 and HD-SDI 3D output :P

Or just make each one able to output 4K 48fps and then for stereo we just buy two boxes?

Love these ideas!!

There wasn't a good place to fit it in without being clumsy or confusing.
We tried a couple of approaches but we reverted to the stack for now.
It'll likely end up as part of the viewer/scopes stack in a later build.

Thanks for keep this change in mind for the close future...!

What is the Roadmap of REDcineXPro ?
Where is it heading ?

The more I use it.. the more it is the same..? but with windows locked and a better time line.
Is there something I'm missing.. Like how do you get multiple time lines as per Jarreds still image,
other than that for basic Batch transcoding, I say the original is easier and less cramp for quick turn around.

However (and Im not sure if it was there or not in the last RCX.. having EDL or XML import from FCP and then back to FCP controls is very interesting.
Once I figure out how to move windows or undock them... I say this would be my new one-light grader.

Looking forward to seeing what the extras will be :)

+.. added....

aaaaahhh I see.... tabs, drop downs, arrows.

I think Ill park it until it's its ready.. crashing to much.
But looks like a great extension off the original. I'm sure its got real potential especially once everything is turned on.

cool guys.

Below, left: Project, TIMELINE, Stills, ecc ecc.
Go on timeline then add tracks.

It seems the manual is not up to date.

Secondaries: is this supposed to have power windows or some kind of? How?

If i copy a grade to other clips then, in the timeline, when fine tuning each clip all the clips are regraded accordingly. Maybe there is a way to avoid that.

Confirm Gtx 580 glitches are fixed and that's cool.

Got to dismount everytime the Rocket from Premiere 5.5 and AE 5.5 otherwise Pro x finds it busy from an other app even if that's not on.

If we could get a thunderbolt red rocket enclosure that was quiet enough to use on set or semi close to set I would never have to drag out the big box again! my back would thank you

Cool announcement but I seriously thought the news would have to do with this allegedly "revolutionary" new 3D standard.

I think it's actually based on hardware by DVS. If you look at the DVS Atomix card, it bears striking resemblance...

Hah!

Very obviously true. I didn't know that. So is RR Atomix in drag, or is Atomix RR in drag? :-)

Same.. I thought it was going to be a real show stopper too about a special build, Dragon, some cool camera update modification, release dates for X
or even about pl..... GAG!.. muffle!... cough.... choke!.... :)))))))

But still, while the boys are given cool stuff out for free, lets take it with open arms and say a huge thanks. I'm always grateful about RCX updates.
