  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Irene

Pics or it didn't happen!

Walked around by the East River a bit this evening before the rain and wind picked up.

Was eerily quiet in NYC. Quite beautiful, too.

As we await the storm here in MA, it's funny how my first inclination is to want to go out and get some footage while it's happening. But then logic kicks in and tells me the best thing to do is stay home, protect my family, and hope there's no damage, or power outages. I think I will elect to shoot the aftermath. Winds may be higher than originally anticipated so there may be some major damage here in New England. Hopefully no one is seriously hurt or killed. This storm is definitely no joke.

I don't really have enough logic, any kids, or much family, so I think I am fully going to go out in it with a dslr and do it up like a complete idiot right before the curfew goes into effect in three hours at 6am EST. I'll upload something should I make it back and find power still on for post work on my desktop... I already hit up the local reporter looking for stills to see if he'd pay for HD video footy if I can find something fitting destruction wise maybe I can make some quid... At least for once my reel might get some excitement, right!

I know it is news worthy if you get some nice pics but, be bloody careful or you might end up a statistic. Hope you all are safe and/or prepared, this could be a nasty storm. Wishing you all well, good luck.

I sent up a time lapse before I had to leave Brooklyn, was one block away from "Zone A." Can't wait to see if I got something.

Here's a few I took of some surrounding towns around me in south jersey. Mostly flooding.

I lost a few trees, and spent the day without power... tomorrow I may be pulling boats off the beach though.

Very nice, David... but I think that sunset has more to do with Nabro, the volcano which erupted in East Africa a couple of months ago, and pumped a *very* large amount of SO2 into the atmosphere. It's caused quite a few interesting crepuscular sunsets and other optical atmospheric phenomena.

As for Irene, I'm just worked 18 hours straight at the FD and am more than happy to see the back of her!
