Ladder Pod?

[Shawn Nelson]

Has anyone ever made or purchased a ladder pod? I've never used one but seen them plenty in BTS shots, a platform that's connected to three sliding ladders, seems to be a much more stable platform than strapping a hi-hat to a conventional A-frame ladder.

I've used a ladder pod from rental houses a few times. Definitely beats a hi-hat on a ladder. It also allows for the assistant and operator to access the camera.

Can you provide images? i have never heard of a ladder pod.

HiHat on an A frame though - all the time, all day. Works super great and is free support considering there's always a hihat and a ladder floating around sets...

seems it shouldn't be that hard to make, then you can put three ladders on the roof of the suv/van/truck and the platform inside.

Thank you gentlemen! (I suppose I could've Googled as well...)

I've used one several times.

Very easy to make, you just need a bowl mount, some clamps and er, a ladder.

Ask your key grip, he'll whip you up one quick.
