I think what is least commented and still most important with scarlet is the ability to record RedCode 100. My bet is that with a new sensor and lower compression, we can see even better images (in some situations) than from the current RED.
2/3" Chip. Hey... We're talking the same size as a F23 Guys. Have you checked the pricepoint on that lately? But there's more...
Barry gave a lot of good info and speculation arround the actyal sensor size on 2/3" cams. Very usefull. BUT, what if REDs sensor program is to keep it simpe, thus actually giving us a 2/3" sensor. There would be a lot of advantages for all (including RED) with this. The Mysterium X program would only be only 1, cropped differently for the different cams, and all you guys screaming for shallow DOF would actually get that with a magnitude of X compared to "traditional" 2/3" cams. Like the F23...
(I am not suggesting anything of image comparison here...)
Skew. The readout rates 180fps hints @, gives the perspective of more than 40% improvement.
It looks like a solid little bugger... I would be much more happy to put Scarlet in harms way than my ONE for that tricky shot. And if it brakes, it costs less than a lense.
