Peter Jackson was very interested in RED before we ever made a camera. Instead of calling us a scam, he invited us to New Zealand to shoot "tests" on RED ONE prototypes (the very 1st ones) before NAB 2007. That resulted in "Crossing the Line"... shot in two and a half days and projected at NAB 2007 to people waiting for 2 hours in line.

"Crossing" influenced Dean Devlin at NAB 2007, who bought RED ONEs to shoot his new series "Leverage" on RED.

Steven Soderbergh watched "Crossing" at a screening in LA which prompted him to call me and request RED ONEs to shoot "Ché" on prototypes, several months before the RED ONE was released for sale. Steven has now shot 6 features on RED, including the upcoming release of "Contagion".

Steven Soderbergh was instrumental in convincing David Fincher to shoot "The Social Network" on RED ONE M-X. "The Social Network" was nominated for Best Picture by the Academy. David Fincher is now completing "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" on RED ONE M-X and EPIC.

Peter Jackson's "Crossing" was also an influence on Neill Blomkamp (who was 2nd unit DP on Crossing") to use RED ONEs to shoot "District 9". "District 9" was nominated for Best Picture by the Academy. Neill is shooting his new feature, "Elysium" on EPICs.

David Fincher was an influence on Dariusz Wolski, who shot "Pirates 4" on RED ONE M-X. Dariusz is now shooting the Ridley Scott feature "Prometheus" on EPICs.

Dariusz Wolski and David Fincher were an influence on John Schwartzman to shoot "Spiderman-4" on EPIC.

John Schwartzman was an influence on many others to shoot EPIC on many new big budget features on EPIC.

And the beat goes on...

Peter Jackson was square one. Peter is shooting "The Hobbit" on 40 EPICs. Peter was 1st. "Boris" and "Natasha" 1st. He called for them and bravely embraced them. In 2006. He saw the future... and didn't ask anyone for permission.

Sir Peter Jackson. RED owes Peter a tip of the hat.

It is awesome to see a company grow in the ways that red has. It is very inspiring. I just hope with all these big wig directors loving red, that this rocket ship will stay grounded long enough for me to hop on board! Thanks for everything that you all are doing. it is greatly appreciated.

Our goal was to deliver a worthy camera to everyone. The fact that Peter, Steven, David, Dariusz, Dean, Neill, John and many other top dogs have embraced RED is a testament that everyone can all afford to shoot the same camera. That is a new concept. One we are very proud of...

Nice Jim.

And that thread has led to thousands of people getting to work with the same tools on projects that are every bit as relevant to them on Red cams. I'm a very happy Epic-M owner. Not because of what Peter Jackson has done with them, although that is great. But because of what I can do with it!

This is my first post and it is not going to be eloquent. Thank you and all your team. My God... The things you have done.

Gotta Love Peter. Many more of those chains came out of Peter's leap of faith...

Lakeshore saw "Crossing" and was convinced to shoot "Gamer" on RED.

The 1st AC from Gamer, Donnie Steinberg moved onto Don Burges' movie "Book of Eli" .

Donnie and Don split up for a second and Donnie went on to shoot Lincoln Lawyer on RED, and Burges went on to shoot a bit of Source Code on RED.

Then they got together again to shoot " THE MUPPET MOVIE " on EPICS.

just one of many.. If this tells you anything.. it is how important you guys are to our program... both big and small.

So why is it we can't watch the full "Crossing the Line" film? I've been wanting to do that since 2007!!!

One of my highlights in my four-plus years at RED was Peter addressing the troops at RED headquarters. Not only has he inspired other industry people to choose RED like Jim and Jarred pointed out, he also inspired us at RED to be that much better ourselves. You simply cannot discount the value of having someone of his stature look you in the eye and let you know the work you do MEANS something. From engineers to finance to warehouse, we all walked away knowing we were part of something very special.

Our hats are off to Sir Peter and to the RED crew

I'm just a newbie in the industry, but I am in great debt and awe to Peter Jackson for showing just how far you can push things to the limit, and just how forward thinking one should be.

Having worked with all manner of footage, I don't think I can go back from using r3d footage and look forward to the day I can afford a Scarlet of my own to make my own stepping stones towards something great.

So inspiring.

Thank to Jim for his vision, Peter for his trust, Jarred for his leadership, the RED Team (worldwide) for their help and support.

The only way is up (can it get better than this? I think so!)
