OK, RED, I know it is in the works... It's GOT to be...

Can you please give EPIC owners an update on the Back End Module cover design? Many of us have wondered from the start, "how do we cover the REDMote when it is off the Camera"...

No problem waiting for it... Just curious what the design is, and if there is anything we can add to the request list... :-)

Thanks!

Its coming.. you do mean the REDMOTE contacts right and not the REDMOTE?

I think that a great solution as far as cover will be for both the back of the REDMOTE when detached form the camera and likely hanging form your neck or..
As well as a Body cover to the camera's end, and or the module at the end of that set up, were it would remain now with uncovered contacts, same as in the back of the REDMOTE when detached... ;)

The REDMOTE backside doesn't really need to be protected.. the front of it is much more prone to environment than the back would ever be with the sealed connectors.

Oh, good to know... ;)

Yeah I guess a hard front cover for the REDMOTE will make more sense but then even a nice Leather case with a flip/lock type front would be nice too... ;)

Either way, you know we look forward to see what you guys are coming out with as solution... ;)

Ketch your in Italy now.. the kingdom of fine leather goods.. That sounds like a hell of an opportunity for you.... :)

Ha ha, and just so happens that we are working exactly on it!!

Plus the Ferrari Red Allen bolts for the Epic that were removed from our Beautiful M8... ;)

We'll of course send the screws to you for approval first...

As far as the Leather pouch with Calamity lockable Flip/Flop, will be sent to you as well, not for approval, but as gift... ;)

Similar to what I use for my Leica...

Hi Ketch, Me again..Dont know if you saw my post on the red screws on the Epic. I really think it adds to the looks! How far away do you think you are from having them ready?

Just warning you.. if the screws are aluminum.. they will likely void your warranty :)

Titanium might be a good option.. too bad anodizing titanium any decent color sucks so bad.

Do you plan to do a cover to cover the back of the camera when the Redmote is off and the contact are naked? I taped some plastic over it to protect.

Pat

Unfortunately, you can't anodize steel in any form, you can only powder coat it,paint it, or chrome it and I'm not sure if you can chrome "stainless" steel either. The problem with painting the bolt heads is inserting the allen wrench afterwords. I will be interesting to see what you've come up with for a solution.

I agree that it'd be nice to have a Redmote-shaped "cap" that can go on the back of the body or modules when the Redmote is removed (similar to the plate that covers the side handle contacts). Is that what you guys are getting at?

What I would really like is a slim battery plate that connects to the back of the camera and holds one Redvolt battery, similar to how batteries connect to the back of Panasonic DVX/HVX. I think this would be smaller and lighter then putting Redvolts in the side handle or a hot-swappable battery module.

They are doing exactly that, with poewr distro as well.

The Action Products solution is pretty slick.... It's great to see so many different companies tapping into the modular architecture of the EPIC program...
