  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Vilmos Zsigmond...

Vilmos Zsigmond has been one of my heros and has inspired me for decades.
 
No surprises here. The very first thing I said after looking at my first Epic footage was, "This compares to 65mm film."
 
Having seen TATTOO at NAB and being blown away by the images I can only imagine what the 40 footer must have looked like.
Zsigmond is one of the all time greats. You're gonna need a bigger cap to hold all these nice feathers.
 
I am excited for Red.

Here's the thing ... if you've seen Epic images ... there is absolutely no question its the best camera on the planet. Knocked it right out of the park ... absolutely no caveats.

So, I'm not remotely surprised. The only thing Red has to do with these cameras is put them in people's hands.

Thinking of the DGA Spielberg thing ... has Spielberg seen these things and their results? You guys should get Cameron to show him.

Then again ... Warhorse is his first film edited with an NLE - so he might take a while to come around.

Zsigmond shot one of my favourite Chandler adaptations. He's the man...one of them anyway.

Hell of a quote, coming from someone with such a comprehensive experience in the industry.
 
I have to say, reading that quote from Vilmos, Steven may be closer to shooting a film digitally than I thought. He has a lot of trust in Vilmos, so he might be persuaded to go that way. Heck, he said he would edit on film until they dragged the moviola out of the edit room and locked it away. He just did a film on the Avid, so maybe he is keeping an open mind with all of this. Ultimately he and Vilmos will probably go with whatever helps them tell the story best, and I respect that.
 
Warms my heart to hear a legend like Vilmos lay on the praise - I think this will cause some skeptics to give Red another look. Congrats to the Red crew for the accomplishment!
 
That is a huge, huge testimonial. Big fan of Zsigmond - McCabe and Mrs. Miller might be the most beautiful American film. Congratulations!
