  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New EPIC-M firmware build 1.6.12

I bet you guys at RED really get a kick out of making a bunch of mature adults hop up and down with excitement like giddy schoolgirls. :)

That's great Brent, we have a big Tiger Shark trip leaving on July 4 so the sooner the better to get some time to build the case and do some testing.

Any word on wired operation? Is the USB port only for charging or is it capable of sending data?

300fps for free? Worth every penny :)

Ive been shooting with 300fps for a while now and it is rock solid. Our Epics have shot four different National Geographic shows with this FW and they have been ecstatic with the results.

For some reason, I can't get my 2K EPIC clips to play nice with the RED ROCKET. Is this a known issue, or is anyone else having issues? Or am I missing something? If I click on the Rocket button and un-check the Rocket for decode and video out, then I can load 2K clips and play them fine, just no Rocket acceleration. If I turn the Rocket back on, then the clip will no longer play and I have to restart REDCINE-X to get other clips to load and play properly. Everything else works fine, it's just the few 2K 300fps clips I've tried playing with. 5KFF 96fps is fine, so is 24fps... Other modes are fine... Just 2K giving me issues. Probably an issue with my Rocket card.

Using 1.4.7 Rocket firmware and associated driver, REDCINE-X 470.
 
I am having trouble establishing a connection between the Redmote and the computer once I open the Redmote Software Wizard. I get to Firmware Upgrade Step 5 and Click Connect. "When REDmote has been established, “Connection to REDMOTE has been achieved” will be displayed." I am unable to establish connection. I first upgraded the camera to 1.6.12. When the Redmote is connected to the camera, no camera is found. When it is wireless, it is trying to connect to the camera ID from before and I can't leave the screen. I've tried with the camera on, camera off, usb cable connected. The battery status is low but supposedly the Redmote is charging via the USB cable. Am I doing something wrong?

Probably a TCP conflict, Dan. Do you have a router or any other network device that has the same IP address (192.168.0.1)? I was unable to connect to the REDMOTE via the utility on My Mac Pro, and was unable to disconnect from the network at that time. So I did the upgrade from a Macbook Pro after disabling Airport (since I didn't want my router with the same address potentially conflicting) and it worked.

New rocket driver is going up today also.
 
NO A/C POWER: Ok, i don't have my A/C power adapter....BUT fully charged red brick....and double verified. Is there ANY reason i cannot do this upgrade with the RED brick? I know the upgrade PDF says ONLY USE A/C POWER--but i'm presuming that RED doesn't want someone putting a near dead battery on and power dying during the upgrade and causing more problems.....

SO......anyone have a say on that? or has anyone done it? My A/C power adapter is in another state....on its way to me....but for now i can only use RED Bricks.

Stop by RED and pick up the AC adapter. Worth it. And no, I don't know what would happen if you did the firmware upgrade with just the battery. But I figure there's a reason why RED doesn't want you to.

I need one of these myself. But I just went to the Red Store online and it says it is backordered. Luckily I can borrow one for now...
