  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I purchased a lens from this person. Received the lens today and it was a jar of paint.

Lovely.
 
On the forum, barely, he must look at the equipment for sale section only. waiting for putting a new scam.

That guy contacted me the first time, offlist through my own website, after posting a WTB thread, with exactly what I wanted for sale. I didn't trust him at all. A month ago he even wanted to cash and trade a dolly moviola I was selling.
The way of doing was a bit weird so I made him wait.

I guess I did right. Sorry for the cash loss...

AND I AM SURE YOU ARE READING THIS A**HOLE.
 
Exactly, I posted a wtb 17-50 lens and this person pm'd me. Didn't see an issue even said it was possible for me to meet in la. Funny thing is I am 99% sure my money will be returned through paypal and I got a free jar of paint :)
 
Normally these things seem like something to be handled in private. However, in this case, and since this person being accused posted just recently to someone else's for-sale thread, I'm going to let it stand. Cory, be sure to file a proper police report in addition to the claim with PayPal. The more documentation against the guy, the better.
 
i have found that especially with lenses the best purchasing procedure is to have merchandise sent to a trusted business ie... for me that is Duclos . they donnt seem to mind being the middleman and both parties feel safe.
 
i'll be out most of the day... but pm me if you need any information for police reports, etc, that we would have in the back end. Happy to cooperate.
 
Also just for all your information, after the money was transferred the reciept from paypal said payment was sent to ibrahim hasan, once I saw it wasn't lindi moco I knew I had an issue.
 
In a case this egregious, I think a full name & shame is in order; publish everything you know about this individual. Names, addresses phone numbers, paypal account, bank details - the bloody lot. Makes it harder for them to pull the same crap again. I would.

While I want to agree with Mike on the full disclosure bit, I wouldn't post more than his name publicly. Remember, everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law in this country. When you start broadcasting personal information, even if someone has wronged you, they can go after you for that. There is a fine line to walk between a reasonable public warning and unlawful disclosure. Best thing you can do is to document everything that has transpired and report it to the right people. If others have similar experience or think they may be in contact with the same individual, it's best for them to contact you privately for confirmation and note-sharing.
 
Let us know if you ever get your money back from paypal. I wouldn't be surprised if they make you wait 6 months for it. I hate paypal... so glad that Meg Whitman wasted over $100M trying to buy her way into office.

Best bet for the future: pay with Paypal using an American Express card. Amex credits your account with the loss and goes after the slime bags. This worked for me the few times I was taken with internet purchases.
 
Paypal had been great so far. I paid using my checking account. I would like to report this to someone. I'm pretty sure it's straight fraud. Obviously 911 will do no good. Can someone who has delt with this shoot me a pm with some / any advise with a first step to take.

Well, seems like this person is a pro at it...

I've been deceived too, i bought a 7" LCD Pro from this person & i was mailed a tracking number that was a month old... I've initiated a PayPal claim as well & was gonna post about this today... so while i logged in to check around, i find LINDI MARCOS at his/her best.

So like Cory said: Beware of this person & if the moderator approves, we should post all possible info about this person here to save others from any inconvenience.

Geez. Reading too many of these as of late. If they are preying on this site, and us, we need to weed this dude out or make it not worth his time.
