  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Stanley Cup Playoffs Begin!

Didn't want to start a new thread but the official announcement of Winnipeg coming back to the NHL is official! No team name yet but average ticket will range from $39-$129.

I'd much rather see Canadian teams than US teams with no real hockey town. Not that I want to offend any fans from those places, just a bit of a purist when it comes to that.

Holy crap! 6,000 tickets were snapped up in the 2 minutes they were made to the general public...Achieved the goal of 13,000 season tix in under 4 days. We manged 4 in the P3 zone which was the best available...lower bowl.

And we don't even know what the team will be called!

I'm developing a theory...

In 1976 the Montreal Canadians won the cup, the same year they hosted the Summer Olympics.
In 1988 the Calgary Flames won the cup, the same year they hosted the Winter Olympics.

Now I'm not a betting man, but if I was, I'd put my money on the Canucks since they were the last Canadian city to host the Olympics. If the Canucks win, my theory will become solid fact. Hosting the Olympics will not only be great for your Canadian cities tourism and economy, it's guaranteed to win your NHL team the cup that year :)

Fortunately, the Bruins may have something to say about your theory. :-)

I believe the Islanders also won the cup the year after hosting the Olympics. All the teams also won the president's trophy in their respective cup winning years. There are a bunch of articles about these kinds of stats all over the place, especially on the canucks message board or nhl.com.

I'm praying that Boston wins. They are more Canada's team than the canucks. Vancouver has *most of the worst/most obnoxious/annoying fans of any team in the league. I don't even want to get started about the way the team plays.

Go Bruins!

Edit: Congrats on the getting the jets back Jeremy!

I didn't realize how much the Canucks are disliked until I heard a guy who plays for Edmonton say that most of the guys in the league really hate playing them. Guess they get under guys skin during games. And they bite people too. :-)

Been having a blast being a Canucks fan and living in downtown Vancouver, just a few blocks from the stadium -- Game 2's been over for a couple hours and the city's still buzzing louder than when we won the Olympics.

And everyone's just pumped about Winnipeg too. A win/win today!

we have had an on going debate in the locker room of my over 40 team, which includes several former nhl players, some current and former nhl coaches and we have determined that out of the two towns, boston would have the bigger party than vancouver...now, being down 2 games...it may be a pipe dream...it seemed such a common thing that the b's were going to be in the hunt when we were growing up, 5 of 10 years of the 70's the b's were in the finals...great game tonight though, up and down, chances at both ends...it's all about goaltending in the SCF...

Tim Thomas has to steal one, or two. I have faith...Vancouver can lose focus -we've seen it all year. Be patient, bro.

Games 1 and 2 were prime for Thomas to steal. Boston blew it. It's also fitting how burrows should have been suspended for game 2, yet he gets 2 goals and an assist.

Boston doesn't look like they want to win, and they don't deserve to playing like this either. Exciting games to watch though, I just wish my team would get younger and faster.

Vancouver is a better team. In order for the Bruins to win they can't turn the puck over, it's that simple. They also need to clean up their offense a bit and give themselves better scoring chances. Oh, and they can't be out hit by the Canucks. That has been depressing.

Now, for the positive. They were in both games. Coming back to Boston, they can get right back in it with a couple of wins. Then it becomes a 3 game series. Much easier to think of it that way rather than needing to win 4 out of 5. Agaimst Montreal they went down 2-0 but then had to go to Montreal. Much better situation this time.

As for Burroughs. Yeah, he should have been suspended but it doesn't matter. The only thing that does matter is beating the guys on the ice and the B's didn't get it done. If they wanted to neutralize Burroughs they should have done it during the game, not hope he was suspended. It's not a good excuse in my opinion.

If the Bruins manage to come back and win this series, the city will be out of control. Maybe not as much as when the Red Sox won in 2004, but it will be intense. Diehards have had to weather a lot of storms with this team, so the angst is there and if they can do it in dramatic fashion the fans will appreciate it even more.

Broken record. Luongo's a bum and Thomas is the man. Down to best of 3, and right now I would bet on Boston.
