Hello,

Lately i got the strange problem that im having render errors in the quicktimes rendered from RedRocket. I render the Red files in 2k.
The original R3D files are okay. The problem is that i see blue en yellow squares in some frames.
Does anyone know about this?

kind regards,

michel

Make sure you have the latest Rocket firmware and drivers installed. Also make sure you're running the newest REDCINE-X build with Rocket support from RED.com/support.

If you have already done all that, or after doing that, and it's still happening, you should post some image samples and more information. Do the errors go away if you disable the Rocket and render again?

What hardware are you on? I have had similar problems with the latest software on a MacPro 1,1 system. Rolled back the software on that system and no more problem. The latest software works great on my newer Mac Pro 4,1 systems.

Thnx for your quick replies!

Im on a 2x 2.8 GHz Quad core Intel Xeon / 10 GB 800 MHZ DDR2 FB DIMM
Mac version 10.5.8.

I got a problem aswell with installing the latest firmware from the RedRocket.
Im able to install the 1.1.6.8 firmware (1.1.4 RedRocket Installer) If i install the lastest version of (1.3.5) then i get errors while opening RedRocket. It says my firmware is version 0.0.0.0.

Here is an example:

The blue square shouldnt be there.
I have taken out the RedRocket card, and installed it again, but unfortunatly, no result.

Thnx for your time!

Exactly (almost) the same red rocket render problem.

Hi, I have exactly the same software and red rocket firmware probs, plus random clips corrupt in a very similar way. They render out perfectly if I try do the renders on my macbook pro.

Make sure you install both the driver and the firmware packages, if redcine x is giving you a problem.

Also, try removing and reseating the card.

I had this happen once, but after a reboot, all was fine. I knew my clips were oka because they rendered fine in software, but with half jumbled frames from the rocket.

We've had similar problems with Rocket cards (multiple ones) running under Baselight in Linux, primarily with Epic footage. We had to revert to software only rendering (i.e., no Rocket) in order to ensure that the corruptions would not occur on renders for delivery elements. Fortunately, we have a number of render nodes so we were able to split up the job and still get it done. We also experienced more frequent corruptions when using Epic footage and using the Rocket for scaling, but those corruptions seem to disappear when the scaling is turned off. Unfortunately, it's not possible to get real time playback performance on the system using 4K output from the Rocket, so we need to set it to scale coming out of the card. I believe we did report this to Deanan (and to Filmlight) when it was happening a few weeks ago. Filmlight did ship us an update that was supposed to address this, but I haven't had any Epic shows since the pilot I finished a few weeks ago.

That looks like data is not being read from the disk properly.
Are you reading from the same disk on both computers?
