Hey guys.. we got in the new AC adapters, they are considerably smaller than the original RED ONE adapter.

Old style has been discontinued, new one will go up in the store today.

Great, just need one very soon because the charger started to switch of my RED1 so often (probably I broke it)!!!

Interesting, we recently had a client set up his brand new RED kit and his AC adapter was slightly different than any of ours but did not look like this new model. Must have been a generation thing.

Jarred, can you please publish dimensions for all the various case makers out there?

Is there ever going to be an adapter where the AC power cord will be held in by something? I've gaffed the crap out of my adapter so I don't accidentally lose power. My JVC HD monitor has a nice little system where this plastic clip goes over the adapter so it can't really come out easily.

I know exactly what you are saying... I use a glue gun just to glue it in there. That gives it enough hold to hold it on mild yanks.. but not enough to lock it in if someone trips over it ( so it doesn't bring the whole camera down with it )

I also have the "intermediate" one. Just replaced my old one about two weeks ago... died on the job.
Rounder than the old, in the style of this new one Jarred is showing here, but still large like the old one.
I was at Anton Bauer and one of the nice fellows there gave me an AC cable that fit MUCH better than the OEM Red cable... and stays on. I still tape it up to be safe though.
Cheers,
Harry

It might be something to do with your lens mount:sifone:

Nothing to do with the mount.

I wouldn't say that because for example with use of battery it can last long as (battery) get.

Also I worked with batteries long enough without any switch off the camera for almost a year... with that magic mount...:sifone:

Might I suggest in the future some kind of a locking fitting like you get with XLR cables? I've seen people (admittedly idiots) trip on the Red power lead, pulling the kettle lead out of the socket on the box, crashing the camera mid-shot [cue much swearing :cuss:]

Sigh...

Love that new size. It would velcro much easier to a tripod/jib setup than the first one.

Does it have surge protection? I remember reading last year that the Battery Charger gives you more protection than the A/C adapter.

Would prefer to use the new one, just want to make sure I'm protecting my baby! ;-)

Any worries there?

Bump...

And I just received one of the large ones? Crap.
