Guys, I've tried the puppet HDRx clip that was released but it fails to load properly on our grading system (baselight). Consensus is that it was a very early type of HDRx clip lacking some metadata that the BL needs.

I would Like to start playing with the HDRx functionality on our baselight. Would anyone be so kind to make a recent HDRx clip available for the unlucky guys like me who don't have access to an epic-M?

Thanks!

Thanks for the generous offer Michael! I would love to try out a HDRx clip too. Seems the dropbox link isn't working yet though?

EDIT: Nevermind - it's working now :)

Thanks Michael!

Hi Michael,

This email is an automated notification from Dropbox that your Public links have been temporarily suspended for generating excessive traffic. Your Dropbox will continue to function normally with the exception of Public links.

This suspension is temporary (3 days for the first time).

Sorry about that guys. Anyone have an alternate server?

thank you Michael. I can imagine that there has been a lot of traffic, so I also was not able to download the clip. About file sharing servers, I don't know much, but I found that http://ifile.it is not bad, there are no ads. You don't have to register, you can simply upload and it will stay online for a month or so.

Can anyone else put a file up? Michael's site is suspended... and I've been waiting to see some more HDRx footage as well. (I've only seen one 10 second clip).

Stay tuned. Michael is going to put the files up elsewhere, sometime soon.

Okay guys. Here is a new (better) HDRx Test. We are uploading the HDRx file to another DropBox account and were able to trim that one to 230MB so everyone can grab it faster and so it will be less likely that DropBox suspends that account. Will post the link once it's done uploading.

Here is the Vimeo Video showing track 1, track 2, 50% blend and rough grade.

Thanks goes out to Chad Westover for helping me out with this today.

P.S. We were exposing for the Escalade Interior and Dashboard in broad daylight.

thanks again.

I imported the clip in Redcine-x 454, put it into a bin, right-clicked on it to select a blending mode so that the HDR option appears in the Clip Settings. Then I click the HDR Blend button and move the slider, but there is no change in the exposure of the image.

In this thread (http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?55576-HDRx-Test-on-Epic-M-8) there is a change. Also in fxguideTV #106 @05.28 it can clearly be seen that the slider blends between the two recorded exposures.

In the metadata, it says HDR Mode: No HDR.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it very much looks like your clip is not HDRx. Can you confirm that, and maybe post a real HDRx clip?

Sorry guys. The R3D was trimmed in REDCine and we didn't realize trimmed R3D's lose the 2nd track. Will see if there is a another way to do it or will need to shoot a new shorter HDRx clip.

Hi Philipp,

Micheal was kind enough to let me shoot that clip on his EPIC and check it out in REDCINE-X.

thanks again.

In the metadata, it says HDR Mode: No HDR.

Nope, you're not doing anything wrong. I'm new to editing HDRx (as I assume quite a few people are :wink5: ) and I didn't catch that the 2nd track was dropped from the .R3D file when I exported the trimmed clip.

If I can get it figured out, I will post another clip for your HDRx tinkering pleasure.

thank you C_Westover and Michael. Indeed HDRx editing/handling is not yet a standard procedure for many of us, that's why your clip is so valuable. Well at least we learned something, that it is only possible to get HDRx in camera, not from a Redcine export. Not yet, I might add, I wouldn't be surprised if such a feature will be implemented in a future Redcine version.
