  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Audio Timecode (and Merge Clips) in 5.5?

Also Dave, why did none of the RED, or SLR sequence presets show up in the 5.5 Trial install?

I just downloaded 5.5 trial from the adobe website and installed it. It has RED and SLR Presets. If those were missing it would explain the other issues are having. How did you get 5.5 installed? Production Premium trial? PPro Trial? A Disk?

Thanks

Dave

I downloaded the Master Collection trial from adobe.com. Let me try downloading just the Production Premium and see if it works. I obviously have a problematic install that isn't reproducible on your end so something is amiss on my machine.

Well great news!!!

I uninstalled 5.5 for a 2nd time and downloaded the Production Premium trial. Now my audio TC issues are GONE!

However, I'm still missing all the extra presets. This is all I'm getting:

...and I'm still getting this error when opening the project and XML I sent to you Dave:

Anyone else with the trial experiencing these same issues? Hate to be the squeaky wheel here.

I just installed production premium and have the presets. Please contact me via private message, on how I can call you to look at your issue.

Hey Dave,

I was able to install the trial on another computer and...

everything is fine.

So, something is amiss on my main system - but on the other machine, all the presets were installed, audio TC is read from all files and the problem XML and projects open up just fine.

Problem solved.

Now, my only request is that there is a way to batch merge clips ala RedCine-X where I can select a bunch of video clips and audio clips and have them all synced up in one pass. Syncing one by one is a bit tedious in this day and age.

Thanks Dave!

Glad it is working for you now... No batch merge at this point.

This fixed the WAV timecode issue for me

This fixed the WAV timecode issue for me

Just wanted to let everyone know what fixed the WAV TC issue for me (windows 7 64bit). After importing the WAV file (DO NOT CLICK ON IT if you are using a OSX), after it creates the PEK file, alt+tab or cmd+tab into another app, then back in Premiere. This updates the TC on my system. Hope that gets an update soon...

I'm also experiencing this with Premiere CS 5.5 on a Mac running Lion. Downloaded PP trial, brought in the associated .wavs recorded from a SoundDevices 788T, and there is just 00:00:00:00 at the start of most of them. The odd thing is that some of them did come in with TC. I tried using Dustin's fix, but it did nothing. I also installed and re-installed 3 times and nothing is helping. David, do you think you might be able to help me out on this. Thanks.

sent a private message asking for one of the files with 0 timecode

Ok All,

So I don't know yet what causes this so we are still investigating. However, working with Jeremy I was able to find a fix. If you see a problem with broadcast wav time codes not coming in this should fix it:

1. Go to Premiere Prefs subsection Media.
2. Read the folder location in Media Cache Database and go to that location in the finder.
3. Close your project and/or quit ppro
4. Delete all *.ims files in that finder location
5. Open your project again.

Hopefully we can track down why this happened and fix the real problem but this should help

Cheers

David, you guys need to fix this badly.

I've been an FCP editor for 9 years and just decided to do my next project in PremPro 5.5. Today I ran into it and instead of spending a couple hours syncing my probject, I spent hours trying to figure out WHY THE FUCK THE AUDIO TC DISAPPEARED. I kept thinking the problem was on my end, some setting I was missing. I got to the 'put your first through the monitor' stage of rage before a friend found this thread for me. Please please please fix this shit.

No need for the naughty words :) As you can see I took this bug very seriously and we finally found the issue (about a month ago). It will be fixed in a future version of ppro.

Oh that's the least naughty words that could be used to describe my frustration prior to finding this page :-).

Thank you for fixing it! I'm very happy to hear it. Now...epic r3d audio? :-)
