[…] more often than not it invites more problems than productive discussion and clutters the already difficult to navigate posts.
This is a RED forum. It is not a general industry forum. There are other places to discuss all the latest DSLR and video offerings from other camera companies.
Not here.

Thank you Brian for your carefully considered response. Based on your advice I will try much harder in the future to discern shit from Shinola. I have often confused the two, so I greatly appreciate you taking the time to illuminate the differences with such clarity. I only wish someone had told me before.
I will shut the fuck up now. Thanks again!
Best wishes,

If you don't believe you can get beautiful time-lapse on red you should check out Tom lowe's stuff.

This is reduser, not dvxuser where those posts might be appropriate. Brian, you're lucky you're not being banned for being so incredibly childish about having a post deleted.

And, Andrew, congrats on your new timelapse reel: beautiful work.
I've gotten plenty of great timelapse clips on my RED MX. But none of the RED cameras out now can shoot star timelapse. So for the shots I want to get I can't use my RED MX and have to use my 5D2. Even for traffic timelapse in downtown LA I don't want to use my RED MX. You can trick the camera to have 1sec exposures but then it turns into hot pixel festival no matter how you black shade the camera.
The 5D2 is the best timelapse camera out there...IMO
