Just wondering if there is any way, available or proposed, to offload the SSD's directly to a Mac laptop and into an external drive without
the use of the Red station. I'm thinking about a minimal, light weight, backpackable, low power consumption kit for remote work.
Obviously having a bunch of SSD's would be best, but that could get beyond budget.

You need the RED SSD Module. I have the RED base station as well, but now, I'm not sure why. I only need the former. It's pretty light and compact. Oh, you gonna need some portible HDsnas well.

Well if the RED SSD module powers directly off the usb bus that sounds like the way to go ( without the base station ).
I'd be interested to hear the details of anyone's one person remote area kit. I'm imagining it could get pretty easy
to shoot 500+ GB per day on the Epic once there is a bit of high speed and Hdrx. looks like I'll be carrying a lot of bare drives.
I've been coping with a couple of Nexto's ( which have been very reliable and compact ) with the red one.

Edit : Actually watching Ketch's Epic introduction answers much of this pretty well

watch through ketch rossis american tour videos.
he and joseph are travelling with bags around the US and shooting 5 k for weeks which is crazy enough by itself.
they talk about how they manage the data too.

Marcus you could definitely fit a red station in your back pack dump kit. The stations are small and light. Easily can be used for remote work.
