Not true PL lens, since these lens are original Leica R lens with our custom gears sleeved over them and the focal distance requires a custom PL mount, however an add on turns it back to original PL flange distance in a snap. I made the gears originally only for our rental Leica lens, but as many have shown interest, here's the pricing:

-about 8-10 Weeks turn a round

-USD 900.-/lens keeping original lens mount
-120.-/lens for the PL mount
-450.- for the custom RED-PL adapter (RED one now, EPIC later).

Below pic's of the Leica mod's, 80mm Front rotating diameter.

Cheers
Brian

I have Leica R mount for RED One, if anyone is interested. $300, only one left, because I only made one . . . .

What lens does Allstar offer his mount for? The Leica focal is 47mm (canon 42, nikon 46.5mm). Cost is about USD 800 to 900.- / Lens
Brian... SICKKKK

whats your price on those guys?

is there a way to use the allstar system vs the custom focal PL? or at least a custom PL for the allstar mount?

do you provide a special mount for it then?
allstars mount system is based on the nikon focal length (i bleieve)
so he could in theory make an adapter mount for your custom PL to his Allstar system..

this would be the best way to go.. One wouldnt need to unscrew another mount and install your custom mount..

you could just pop on your custom mount into his amount system and BAM! start shooting in seconds..

Id be very interested in your lenses/this set up

Hi Brian,

These look great. I am very interested in the Leica R option generally. I have just one Leica R lens and like it very much (the 50mm Summicron). If I was building a set what would you you recommend in Leica R? Also, do Leica R barrel forward when focusing (like Zeiss ZF and Nikons)?

I'm surprised there is not more discussion about the Leica R's. They are just an AMAZING option for Red cameras.
I first got the 100 macro to pull off a very complicated shot in 2009. I just couldnt believe how good it was given the price point. I have since bought a ton more and plan to use them on Epic.
I havent done anything in the line of cinevising them as I do not really have a good understanding yet of all the options.

This sounds interesting. I'd like more info on the process.

Another question Brian. What lenses did you use for the Pro Senectute Spot / Frau spot on your webpage. I think the shooting is beautiful and the look gorgeous.

Hi Rob

Thanks! The Lens were the Leica R (mostly 35mm 1,4). I have mostly shot with my Leica R since I got my RED 3 years ago. I would get all Leica R you can, except for the 16mm fisheye and the 28-70 Zoom (they are not that good). Mechanically most are ok, but do not expect cinema performance (breathing), but who ever rents them out, usually comes again:)
Below a rude compareance between the Leica R and the new Cine Leica C (mountain shot R 70-180 vs. 70mm C) and the Arri Master Prime 50mm vs. Leica 35mm-look at the lips crop!

Hi Zak

Yes, for the RED one I allready have a mount - for the EPIC once I get mine:). Allstar is at NAB, maybe he can drop buy and I can talk to him about a mount.

Are you able to mount clamp on mattebox? The outside of your lens sleeves look a little unfriendly for the clamp mechanisms. Other than--looks great!

If it helps we shoot with Leica R and A mount for the Summilux and macro lenses. We also have Leica R Apo Telyt 280, 400 and Leica 1.4 and 2x extenders in PL. They are just fantastic.

Brian's gears look great.

Dave

Brian this is exactly what I've been looking for!

Allstar's A mount is a pretty clever mounting system. It lets you swap between PL, Oct-19, BNCR, Nikon F, and Leica R using an adapter system.
You should definitely look into it.

As for your comparisons I couldn't tell which lens was which. Could you label them :)

I am assuming Sangin's computer has blown up or some other catastrophe has befallen him as he'd be on this tread by now.

I think if you cant tell the difference in the images between vendors lenses on the screen grabs, then you cant tell :-) Be interesting to see on a projector.

I still think that for any ones money these lenses are beyond fantastic. There are of course various rehoused versions which improve the mechanical considerations, but Brian's work goes a pretty long way towards that goal.

Hi Brian,
You should make a video and post it, so exactly know what we looking for.
