No pictures of you guys in the dumbo section of brooklyn looking up at the brooklyn bridge!

Gotta tell you that housing looked great with the Carbon fiber look...what a nice package....

The new LED lights are also looking amazing...

It was great to see EPIC in person, can't wait to take it underwater..Thanks Ketch and Joseph, was great meeting you in Miami and thanks for the time with EPIC.

Best,
Frazier

First of all, wtf does that mean?:-)

Anyway, after pulling an all nighter, I'm happy to say that we were able to put Ketch and Joseph on a 12:00 plane to NYC with a fully functioning Epic underwater case. Looks pretty sexy in carbon fiber finish but didn't even have time to take a photo if we were going to make the flight so I'm counting on Ketch/Joseph to take some nice publicity shots tomorrow.

There will be a bunch of tweaks and options on later versions, and maybe a little shorter when we get the other modules (set it up with red bricks for this shoot) but this one is pretty close to final form factor.

Ketch, was an absolute pleasure hosting you buddy. I can not thank you enough and Steve for that matter...for all you have done to help make this shoot happen. You are legendary, I am officially in debt to you! Your right, it was a long time coming us shooting together glad we could be the 1st to take the EPIC down under! Look forward to your future development in 2D/3D UW rigs!.

Michael thanks for your work on the housing, I will write a review of the shoot and post some pix soon...I will say the footage is breathtaking and the housing was rock solid...100% success.
I liked the housing so much that the one you see photographed below has my name all over it!! :coolgleamA: ....see you NAB buddy, safe travels to both of you.

Actually Joseph, did not made it to the shoot, not his style for nudity content, this was Clay's shoot and I was happy to be part of it, at last shooting together with Clay was long coming,
today we are shooting NY City!!

Here are some shots of Michael's UWH for Epic, please do note that this is an "UNFINISHED" preproduction model, and it was done in just couple of days of work,
we were ion a rush and in fact not even went out shooting with Michael in Miami.

The camera worked flawlessly under water for several hours, a big thanks to Michael's work, a pleasure to meet and see you at work!!

And btw, be prepared to see Ketch Rossi Studios, work with some insane UWH rigs, both in 2D and 3D configurations, Underwater will never be the same... ;)

So was slightly bigger better for stability on the EPIC housing guys...I thought if it was too small it wouldn't be as steady??? Not too big, not too small but just right???

Balanced well???

The housing Michael built for #3002 RED One I can push along with one finger underwater...just wondering how this one handled...hopefully smoothly and well balanced.

We actually do that - put your name on the label that is :-) Will see you all at NAB and look forward to some more footage and thanks again to Ketch and Gibby .

Thanks, Frazier - the carbon fiber look is pretty cool - that will be the color scheme for the Epic UW-PVC.

Clay told me it was pretty well balanced - good since we were making a weight half and hour before leaving for Ketch's flight. I'm sure there will be different lengths for various purposes: "standard" length for the standard epic-x package with redvolt batteries; super short versions for guys like Rudi that do freediving and such where absolute minimum size is best, etc. but I would be fine with the length of this prepro version - just about perfect for stability underwater but easy to handle getting in and out of the water and traveling. I think we will be able to go an inch or two shorter with the REDVOLT battery module but won't know for sure until Red gets that finalized.

That housing looks like one I have, difference is mine has 50mm thick ports with double O rings and 12mm thick aluminium cylinder and not designed for the Epic.....have taken it to 308mtrs so far,.....keep up the good work, cant wait to build a housing for the Epic and strap it onto an ROV and send her down

Joseph
That vimeo diary is really interesting but will you be cutting in any EPIC footage? Was I right in thinking that there was no EPIC footage in the NY video?

Mike

No, we do not currently plan to cut EPIC footage with the BTS videos.

You are indeed correct that there was no EPIC footage cut with the BTS camera (Sonly Z1).

P.S. Looking forward to your second Post Pit segment at NAB...

I'm enjoying your trip so far. Both jealous and thrilled for you guys. Looking forward to more.

Joseph answered correctly Mike, however, we might have some BTS footage cut in to the actual Playmates Epic M shoot as we did for the LA Fashion Test.

Hey guys, it was great hanging out yesterday. Best of luck on your US and Italian adventures! See you at NAB, and perhaps in Italia at some point... :)

Nice BTS video Joseph. The more you hang with Ketch, the better your shooting gets. Keep up the good work.

Let me take this time to say a huge "THANKS!" Alexander Ibrahim for being our gracious host. He did a phenomenal job of rounding up about 40 individuals from the Maryland/DC/Virginia area for a "Show and Tell" along with a "Q&A" regarding the EPIC.

Also, a thanks to Zhibo Lai for being our "co-host".

The hospitality we have received from the RED Community thus far has been overwhelming.

I am currently editing the DC video. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy a few of the pictures...

I still can't get over how clean and sensitive the EPIC is.

We turned off all lights during the presentation and someone turned on their iPhone. The result?

(I of course know that this is not the most ideal way of showing what we saw. You really have to see it in person to believe it...instead of a JPG as is the case here)

Above shot was taken in a dark room, were the gentleman i the shot was illuminated by his iPhone, shot at 12800 ISO, with a 75mm Master Prime at T*1.3.

Noise? Yeah but of course, would I take this kind of shots for major projects? Of course I would, if it was have a shot with noise or no shot what would you do? ;)

EPIC ROCKS!! In fact EPIC ROCKS HARD... VERY HARD!!!
