Build 16

Build 16

This is a big question for me, as well.

Build 16 has some significant new operational features, but its focus is even higher image quality.

We are in our internal testing phase, so the release will be soon but I don't have a specific date.

Everyone is going to be pretty excited by this when it is released.

Thanks Stuart mate.

do you know when we can expect a stable Build 15 fixing the Codec Error's and LCD stutter?

Really need a fix on the Blue Frames "Failed to Lock image buffer"

Codec Error's make me crazy! Practically I cant record any shot on 4K 16:9. Please build 15 updateFix

Just use 2:1 and everything is ok, you can crob it later. Why try something from that everybody knows, that it don't work properly yet.

So tell them, 2:1 has a better quality and is the last hype in the film industrie, so that makes it very exclusive and it is futureproof. With other words, they will have the possibility to use 2:1 or 16:9, a format, that won't survive for very long, blablabla ;-) Most of the time that helps (or are this clients film professionls? That could be hard...

Some. The real hurdles are agencies. But they don't listen, period. Even the FX houses can have a hard time. Anything non 16:9 HD scares the shit out of them, no matter how it's explained.

But that's just my experience. I'd rather 16:9 be functioning properly, than deal with what I've been having to deal with.

2 for 1

2 for 1

Yes I know, but I need 16:9 is that strange?:calm:

It's not strange, quite common. What you need to explain is Red Raw is like a negative and the negative doesn't impose the output format. So you shoot in a wider format, and you can activate 16:9 guidelines for framing (and will they even know you're shooting 2:1 ?), then you develop in Redcine and output 16:9

It's simple enough.

Cheers,
Damien

Ditto on the 'failed to lock image buffer'.

On the lcd flicker, do you plug in the lcd after you have turned on the camera, or do you turn the camera on with it pluged in?

Becuase when I turn it on and then plug in the lcd, I get the fliker and when I turn it on with it already pluged in I don't get any flicker at all.

I always shoot 2:1. It looks so much cooler. :)
Most stuff ends up 1080p anyway. So there is much room in redciné to frame around. But damn, 2:1 just looks like big old hollywood movie stuff.
You just got to love it.
But I understand your clients fear. They have a workflow they know, so they dont want to change stuff. It is crazy at the moment, to many formats, ratios, guidlines and postworkflows. This industry hast to streamline the whole shit.
It probably will never happen.:angry03:

Good luck.

2:1 is not an industry standard and clients like to work with what they know.
Its hard to argue the added resolution of 16:9 and the fact Red is a native 16:9 chip.

My clients are smart and I don't BS them.

Mine too!

Sure I record everything 2:1 but I need full sensor. We bought 16:9 camera right? If you are shooting with the film you have full Academy format and then choose 2:1 or other in PP.

Simply... I need Build 15 fix ASAP!
