  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

We are three days into our feature film HELLBENDERS - rolling EPICs on the ET Atom rig.

I have been watching the dailies in stereo 3D in our theatre - directly from the RAW files and I am just blown away by the detail and image quality - there is really a "rich filmic" quality that you just have to see on the screen to appreciate - it's hard to describe - but the name of the camera pretty much sums it up.

This camera raises the bar. Bigtime.

The production value we are capturing - and the ability to move faster with the form factor - make this camera worth several times it's price. No question.

The story, and the craft of the storyteller are always king - but let me tell you - this camera makes images that are so stunning to watch - your audience will immerse themselves instantly.

Shooting 5K on EPIC is not a typical "shooting digital" experience.

I can only hope all of you get to be high on the 5K RAW drug I'm flyin' on right now ... it's just ... WOW.

I want to thank you for sharing with us great RAW Epic images, so we can appreciate them in it's full beauty. Seeing those projected at 4k at Storm party was truly inspiring.
Said that, for me, most of images, even including IMAX in 3D to my eye impart very little of filmic qualities, that I can see in 2D. On a contrary, any 3D images to my eye have very video game ish qualities.
Not a criticism, just strictly a personal observation...
 
Note to myself: don't open Mark's .r3ds on a laptop before going to bed.

Looking at the NY R3D's now... Just beautiful. I'm starting to get homesick.

Hi mark- tried to chat with you at the Storm event but you had a line of people waiting and I had to catch a plane :)

Quick question. Have you done any mutli-cam shoots with EPIC yet? Can you view three cameras at once by linking rdmotes did you say? What about with with 3 separate Teradek's? I assume yes on the latter.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for sharing. Just to clarify, I can't make it out in the pics following the link above, you are using an Atom Rig with 1 Red One and 1 Epic-M, is that right ? If so, that's cool, and I'm really interested in any info, details you can share with us about that rig.

I'll soon have an R1 and an Epic, and I like the idea that they could be used to shoot 3D, although of course it would be a lot better to have 2 Epics...

We are shooting with two EPICs on the ATOM rig.
 
Oh, I figured, #0006x refered to an R1, but now that I think about it, it may be a new 0006 and the x is to differentiate it from the stolen one... makes sense.

Maybe Epic-X for X?
It's a serial exchange for #0006. 6x is it's replacement.
