  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New SmallHD DP6

Hey guys, I'm loving my DP6 as well. I started this thread specifically to work out getting Red One menus onto the DP6 screen.

SmallHD clinched my sale at NAB when I saw that it could be a complete replacement for the Red LCD - including menus, and their very responsive tech support is working with me to make it happen. Today they sent me new firmware but it didn't solve the problem.

Have any of you managed to do it?
 
FYI- I am getting distinctly different images from the HDMI vs SDI inputs. HDMI looks significantly cleaner !!!!! Sussing it out!!! Will report changes

Red/DP6 Beta-Testers Needed

We have a lot of improvements and new features coming in the next DP6 firmware release (V1.2). We could use a couple of Red beta-testers since we do not have easy access to a Red. If you have a DP6 and would be willing to help, please post on our Support Form.

If the Beta Testing continues to go well, it will be out this week.

There are Red support, color and SDI image improvements. I really can't say more until the formal announcement, sorry..

V1.3 now under development :-)

Were you guys able to get the menus to show up on the DP6?
 
for those that didn't get the email. small hd released a firmware update recently
1.3 lets you adjust to blue only takes care of yellowish tint problem.

I purchased the TV Logic about a month ago. Amazing monitor. Super sharp. I was hoping it could replace the RED LCD but it won't show the Menus. I'm thinking about selling it. Bummer, as it's perfect for focusing and run-n-gun.

Does the DP6 show Red Menus?
 
I don't think so. That's what I was trying to find out. I believe the DP6 and the TV logic have the same resolution so either would be sharper than the RED LCD.

So neither the SmallHD or TV Logic will show the menus using either connection (HDMI or HD-SDI) is that correct?

Were using the DP6 via HDMI and have the menus. But you wouldnt believe the fiasco on trying to find a cable that works consistently. Were talking display signal period not just menu.
Even the cable SmallHD sold us didnt work.
I havent checked lately but we ended up sending the DP6 back for a check-up.
Ill find out tomorrow if all the HDMI cables are working now.
 
Wow awesome news! I love my DP6 ( currently using it with a dslr) and cannot wait to use it on the Scarlet. Since I'm getting a fixed, I am pretty sure I have to get the touchscreen Red Pro 5" since touch focus is too tempting, but the SmallHD will be great for my Director or assistant camera to watch, as well as see camera settings. Glad I invested in this monitor it has been nothing but great.

Do you feel its a lack of buttons? Is it Only one user button or is it two? I see its two buttons and a scrollwheel. But can you assign pixel 1:1 on one button and false color on the other?
