I thought it might be nice to have a thread going for the next couple weeks where M owners could talk about the cameras and accessories. Maybe even share resources and tips. As Jim mentioned, this is a small group, and there aint no manual for the camera. People expecting Ms and Xs soon could perhaps benefit from reading through such a resource, as well, to get a heads up.

I'll start. Right now I am using the ET Hybrid 19mm rail system. I quickly discovered I was going to need an adapter for the bottom of the Epic. (I'm waiting on new Red DSMC rail system). I ordered one from ET, they sent me two, and in the meantime, Ketch sent me one. Now I have three ET Epic adapters, and only need one. I don't think these are even listed yet on ET's site. If anyone has a verified Epic M delivery date coming soon and needs an adapter, send me your address and fedex account, and one ET Hybrid Epic adapter is on the way.

Hey BTW, thanks for the handle riser, Ketch! :)

Brook has a Q&A thread.

Hey Tom and all,

Wooden Camera is in the process of receiving some prototype top mount systems of our own design that will be extremely flexible for Epic and Scarlet configurations.

Some configurations will be available to ship in limited quantities by the end of next week.

If you are interested and own an Epic M, please send me an email for renders and pricing info.

Initial offering:
Top mount system - 19mm rails and sliding cheeseplate
Cheeseplate - 6" version, has array of 1/4-20 mounting holes (Red spacing) and 3/8-16 holes (Arri spacing)

By NAB:
Top handle mount - adjustable length mount
Top handle - 6" version and 10" version
"Easy Plate" - array of 1/4-20 holes on a small plate
Cheeseplate - 12" long

and finally "A-Box" which will be something useful for run and gun setups!

All accessories will be EXTREMELY affordable. We are a small company with big ideas ;)

Best,
Ryan Schorman

I've been using a set of accessories I've built while on Spider-Man. I'm currently re-machining them to spiff 'em up a bit before I post anything... but 8 months of working with this puppy has led to a lot of bits and bobs to work as solutions for the way that we're used to using the camera in a professional cinema environment. That's one of the coolest things about the Epic... you can build it into whatever you want.

I've contacted some M owners about checking them out [should have some more cut by next week], but if any current M owner wants to get a head-start on getting their camera outfitted, shoot me a PM!

I've been playing with RED's new accessories as well.. they've really outdone themselves! The base production pack this is not!

Ok, I'm down to one ET Epic adapter left.

Greg, are you using the one I sent you?

Also, I have one more at my house.

I expect to have my M shortly, delayed a bit by the big move of the production line, and would love to have that riser base. Let me know if its still available and I'll send you my FedEx number.
Thanks for sharing.

Cheers - #19

Blair just DM me the info. I can probably get it mailed out on Monday. You have a Hybrid ET plate?

Yeah we have the ET additional plate, great to have but a shame to add back the weight.
I love working with the camera in its lightest configs.
Also the power lead adapters are really never going to last that long-ours is already looking 'well' used after only a few weeks.

Just so you guys know, the plate that I first sent Tom, is the one form ET, a great little plate to screw firmly under the Epic, that in turn you can 4
screw the ET Hybrid plate under it, however good, the newer to come will be better, and the RED quick release Pro system is way better, so I strongly
advise you to make note of it and ask RED if you can buy the Quick Release Pro system with bottom plate riser for the Epic and Scarlett, as it is
making our life ten times easier in our Epic America Tour, a joy to use, and no need to have the huge Hybrids Bridge Plate.

It wil make the snapping on and off of the Epic body a, well, a SNAP he he.

I've been playing with RED's new accessories as well.. they've really outdone themselves! The base production pack this is not!

Awesome news! Looking forward to your pix of your fab-ups.

Cheers,
Rich

To those that I've been keeping updated: I have 20 top plates machined and will have them anodized and etched by Wednesday to ship. I'll have the bottom plates and side arms cut in the next week or so.

To the uninitiated, here are a few screen grabs. I'll replace these with real photos in the next day or two. These are cleaned up versions of some of the accessories I've built for Spider-Man.

The hole spacing matches RED's accessory spacing [so you can use RED's own accessories mounted to this plate]. I also have NATO rails built that fit on the side of the top mount as well as the side of the sidearms [which I will post renderings of when I'm satisfied with their design].

I'm super happy with the top plate - I've been using it for ages on Spidey and it just disappears into the camera. I have one on my personal Epic-M and have yet to find a situation where I needed to remove it; it just lives there.
