WARNING: iPhone Pics

Earlier the crew was speaking about security precautions in every which way possible. It was brought up that many people use te iPhone to shoot/upload pictures so easily. The problem is that each picture taken in te "Camera" is tagged with GPS. Other apps such as Hipstamatic are getting software updates which save the GPS data.

If you upload these photos, be forewarned that anyone can import it into a simple and free application such as iPhoto. You DO NOT want to post any such photos onto the web for people to take this metadata and find your precise GPS coordinates. This can be a VERY costly mistake...

You can turn off location based services on the iPhone if you are concerned. You can also turn off location based services for individual apps like the Camera.

Though Light Room will let you do it in a batch. I need to get LR, bad. I hear it is a great program.

Haha, it was only a result of browsing twitter and seeing people tweet "from locations" so I was checking all my friends (no... just joseph) to see if they had it enabled.

yeah that stuff is really stupid, for instance they'll "check in" at home and then a week later broadcast that they're leaving on a vacation for a week. Guess who's house is getting broken into. Terrible stuff.

Yeah there are hundreds of photos on the internet of naked girls and next to their nude photos are their address, google street view from their house, facebook information etc. You have to be careful with that phone or it might fuck up your life.
