  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

MEET FELIX....

I know I come here late but here is my very little test of the Chicken video shot with the fixed scarlet.

Workflow : RedCineX > 720P ProRes444 output > small editing in FCP > output with Vimeo preferred settings in Compressor. That's all.

The more I hear the lens on the fixed the more it sounds like the selling price of the whole kit is comparable to what that lens could sell for solo. And people are actually complaining about the price...

I need the .r3d file used to create felix96.mp4! Are the Red team planning on posting it? I think I fully understand the symbolic value Jannard is trying to communicate by making the first footage we see of both Epic and Scarlet feature a lion.

Jannard and Jarred :)

DUDE! We're on the same wavelength!

It's such a beautiful metaphor. Felix is the new Leo. Here's a quick history lesson for those that are still not seeing the full picture.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer also known as MGM was founded in 1924 and went on to become one of the biggest and most succesful studios in Hollywood. At one time they were so high in the food chain that they claimed they had "more stars than there are in the heavens".

Compared to this Golden Era for the studio things are looking very bleak now. In 2009, they faced huge financial problems and declared bankruptcy.

On December 20, 2010, MGM executives announced that the studio had emerged from bankruptcy. Still things are not good when you consider that the only film released by one of the major studios in Hollywood, during 2010, was "Hot Tub Time Machine".

Wrong picture, Sebastian!
Here's the right one:

I don't want to be the pixel peeper guy (also my question is mainly about redcine-x, not about scarlet fixed...)

But, when I opened the 3K footage, setting the resolution to half led to a sharper image. Just a tad sharper, but it should be the other way around.
Maybe I messed up something?

thanks in advance.

Saw also that : maybe it's because the interpolation from our computers (not running on 3K native displays) is less effective than the 1/2 interpolation from Redcine-X ?
