Sorry if it has been covered some place else. I'm considering using a 9" red arm to hold my evf (not a bomb one). My question is not whether it's the best available solution, I know it is not, but it is light, cheap an my 5"red arm has proven rather satisfactory, if not flawless.

Question is : can I expect the same practical service/reliability with a 9" arm length fully extended as with a 5" one, considering both the extra arm length and the evf weight ? Practical advice much appreciated...

I've find that the 9" is a better made arm all around.

I don't like using the Arms for EVF myself, but the 9" is much better than the 5".

Hope that help.

I personally found using only one arm not being strong enough to support the weight of the evf properly. Using one small and one large arm does the job best. Investing in a professional viewfinder mount might be a good idea, but, on a budget, using two arms is a good solution.

both knowing that the arm is not the "proper", perfectly practical and pro solution... will the evf stay in place (and of course, not fall !) if the whole setup (tripod + camera) is rather steady ? I need total extension at times, so using two arms will not allow that..
