  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How is your mac resolve configured.

What version mac?
Internal or external storage?
What kind of files are you normally grading? .r3d, .dpx, qt, dnx?

In my home studio I am currently running:

2008 mac dual quad core machine.
8GB of ram
gtx 285 / gt120
atto 8Gb dual link fibre card
32 fibre channel drives
12 sata to fibre for near-line storage
decklink hd extreme 3d i/o
tangent wave
panasonic pro plasma
Touch screen scopes

And much more..

how is this working out for you on the 2008 macpro?
 
Good day Robert,

Happy to report it is working just fine with my preferred dpx workflow. No issues is hd. 2k is right on the edge however I don't think its the computer running out of steam. I think its the gpu. Planning to order the pcie expander next week and add a second gtx285. My goal is 2k stereo playback.

What all would you buy if you were setting everything up from scratch right now for a future Resolve system with Red Rocket to work primarily on EPIC 5K R3D files and you wanted to keep it reasonably affordable.

Storage, control surface, monitors?

Advice appreciated.

I Just ordered this week following setup:

-MacPro Two 2.93Ghz 6-Core Intel Xeon (12Gb Ram, 2Tb HD)
-Radeon 5770
-Nvidia Quadro
-Apple LEC Cinema 27''
-My old Cinema 23''
-GSpeed-eS-Pro 4TB wit mini-SAS Controller and GSpeed-eS-Pro 4TBJBOD
-Decklink HD Extreme 3D+
-Tangent wave
-Sony PVM-L2300 + BKM-250TG (3G Input card) + BKM-16R


I will be using the 23'' as my scope monitor till I have a maschine that works well with the Ultrascopes.

What do you think of my setup?
Any feedback or suggestion as always welcome!!
