We shot this christmas spot for Heineken last week. It was shot for the Puerto Rican market, and it shows a little pig that runaways from his farm after realizing that a christmas party is going to take place in his farm. Making fun of the PueetoRican tradition of killing and cooking pigs to make a wide variaty of dishes during the christmas festivities.

Welcome to reduser Joel.

Guys, Joel is a convert from The hdslr world to The red world.
:-)

Thanks for The opportunity to work On this.

Quick FYI:

The piece was shot over a period of two days. Every day, after wrap, we would get a drive with the footage and using one of our rocket sations dailies where created. As you can imagine, working with animals ain't easy so we had tons offootage to convert. This is where the rocket really came thru for us.

Once the offline was client approved we moved to grading on our Baselight. After that we onlined it on our smoke advanced and proceeded with the VFX. At least half the shots have some kind of roto work on them, removing the trainer or similar things from frame.

The real kicker to all this is that From the moment we got delivered The files we where given 5 days to complete all of the post!

Niceone! -:)

Makes total sense for pigs in Nrway, too - despite me prefering the snowless variation presented from Puerto Rico...

Am Sure that if you replace the second half of the music to something that's culturally linked to Xmas on your country, it would be even more effective.

Hey I was the AC in that commercial!!!
Good to see that u people liked it... HEY JOEL!!!! nice to see you here !!!! LOL

We Used Cooke S4 Lenses and the Angenieux Optimo 24-290. Of course the RED MX with IRND 12 and sometimes IRND 12 +ND9 in front of the lens. Puertorrican sun is a killer!!! specially with an almost white pig and lots of shadows and also to play with the deph of field in some occasions. Practically no lights there just bounces to compete with the morning sun shadows. As Frankie said working with animals is so unpredictable so we shot tons of footage and in many speeds. The MX worked flawless in the heat of the caribbean sun and in such a humid place. Im very happy with the end result... SEE YA GUYS!

Bernd, in Puerto Rico we have this tradition of doing a pig rotisserie style on Christmas.

When the pig sees the Heineken Boxes he knows that there is a xmas party coming, and the only thing missing from that party is HIM. Hence he runs away. This is reinforced by local xmas music.

Hope that clears it up

Aside from the excellent camera work and editing, I think the concept of the "piglet angst" and the subsequent escape carries extremely well. My wife, who is British (not a country particularly well known for it's "Beers and BBQ" culture), "got it" immediately.

Mmmmm good beer and marinaded pork chops on the BBQ.... wish we weren't currently suffering under 2 feet of snow!
