Even though the Scarlet S35 has just changed to EPIC Light... we have some big news coming regarding the Scarlet program. I am a big Scarlet fan and am excited at what we are brewing for the Scarlet program.

Everything moves fast around here... stay tuned.

Jim

I'm still looking forward to the 2/3 models myself... They seem like a better steal dollar for dollar than even EPIC (to me, anyways)... well, on paper... for now...

Whatever they end up being... anything in the 10k range seems a ton of performance, image quality, feature set for the price.

As long as it does not translate into significant delays, I like the sound of all of this. I've been a quiet, daily, spectator of this forum since the original Scarlet was announced, and despite the recent announcements from Sony and Panasonic (and it could be said that it is because of them), my investment in RED-- whether it's a Scarlet or an EPIC Light-- remains imminent.

Let's hope the next two weeks are short ones.

Cheers,

Fabián

Excellent move and idea.

Also I was writing about that option few days ago here:

Please don't get me wrong I'm just a RED funboy...

Hey Jim,
I was just thinking about the "professional" post you made a few weeks back. I felt that the idea to shift RED to be a professional only platform made a lot of sense.

My question is, does it still make sense to produce a fixed lens Scarlet/Epic Light? We've squeezed an enormous amount of work out of our Sony Z1. I like the ease of the work flow but I wouldn't consider it a pro camera.

I also realize that comparing a Z1 to a fixed Epic Light is not a fair comparison.
Just curious about your thought on the fixed version.

Thanks-

Its all happening today, looking forward to the Scarlet news and hopefully a timeline at long last, ready and waiting to place my order.

Love this kind of news

This makes sense, have the Scarlet be like a 16mm and the Epic like a 35mm camera. Otherwise things get confusing and complicated especially when talking to clients.

if the name scarlet is now synonymous with 2/3 its a good branding call

"Obsolence obsolete" and "Announced announcement"

Gotta love this place! :D

P.S.: You didn't get the order of the releases right though, Sanjin...
