Hey everyone

We just got the Arri Remote Wireless Follow Focus which doesn't seem to work. We have the UMC-3A connected with the camera through the AUX 12v connection but UMC-3A doesn't seem to turn on.

Surprisingly the cable has 4 pin AUX #1 connector to RED, another connector #2 (God knows to where) and a connector going to UMC-3.

Is this a power issue where RED ONE is unable to power the system? Has anyone experienced a problem connecting the camera to the system? Do I need to connect the #2 connector to external power source?

Or maybe I need to enable the power going from RED ONE to external power source? Help!

Thanks,
Arseniy

The ARRI cable that connects to the AUX #1 is for GPIO trigger - NOT power.

You need a connector to P-Tap for power. What is the connector on the "#2" you mention?

We have the complete ARRI WRS system. It took ages to get the D-Tap power cable from ARRI, but now it powers up fine :) Actually we aren't using the GPIO trigger cable at all on most setups.

Arseniy, feel free to contact me if you want more details, but here's the part numbers, if you don't have them:
UMC 3 to RED cable, k2.65186.0
K PSC to DTAP cable, k2.65208.0

f*&k!!! I just bought and paid for one from ABEL CINE right now! I hope I dont have any problems!

Just bought the RED 2 motor kit!!!!

what mark said: the ARRI to red aux cable is only for triggering start / stop. you have to get the power from somewhere else, we are using a power converter box between red battery and camera.

we are working with the umc3 (not sure if it is umc3a) since last week - no issues.

not sure about the umc3a, but if remember right the umc3 needs 24V power to run.

will check later this afternoon on set.

best wishes,
martin

Which power supply would be connected to the "K PSC to DTAP cable, k2.65208.0" cable? What are your recommendations?

Thanks everyone!

The cable was mistakenly left out of our recommended kitting for the RED (my bad). We are addressing this with Arseniy and I just asked that it be corrected for Adam as well. If anyone else has an issue please let me know.
