  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

HISTORY...

Having been around Red since long before the company was formed, I remember that early development stage real well! I believe the video Jarred posted was shot at the NHRA Pomona Winternationals in February 2006. I was also there at that event, shooting an EFP camera for Matco, trackside and in the pits (including the Oakley pit). Small world - and oh how time flies :)

werd !
are you going to post the footage of what was shot ?

I think they did actually... I remember the first RED footage I've ever seen was those car race: a high speed monster car on departure at 120 fps... It was awesome! I was still shooting DV at this time and it just blew my mind.

Then this same footage became also available as R3D file, for us to start to play with REDCINE...

I don't know, Steve seems to have a better idea of where and when this took place. Maybe he can tell if the footage I'm talking about is the one that were shot this day.

I would love to see red put that same old footage up alongside and epic shot drag race
sort of a then and now marketing thing.
then we could put both through the new redcine and color science

Hmm..if I remember correctly the drag race footage Red posted on Red User in 2007 was shot at the 2007 Pomona NHRA, not the 2006 Pomona NHRA event. At the 2007 event I believe they were using a Red 300 lens. I was also there in 2007, again shooting an EFP camera for Matco trackside, just up the track from where the Red crew was. I also shot in the pits at the 2007 event. Fun stuff!

I really liked the logo. It reminds me of those old 11" x 14" metal signs advertising everything from motor oil to rifles and shotguns. It had that thirties look.
Check this out. I did a google search for "metal signs motor oil shotguns" and this popped up. An International Harvester Sign:

Cheers,

I love it! RED should hire someone to cut the making of R1 and release it as soon as possible, I would love to see it all!

Pete, good find. And somewhat appropriate.

And the coolest thing of all is that the dragster taking off was shot on REDCODE, so you can re-develop it and take full advantage of the newest color science. :)

That's nice and all, but I rather you focus on MAKING HISTORY and RELEASING EPIC!
