  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Rabbit Hole trailer posted

My wife just saw it at Chicago International. She still can't stop talking about it. It's the best picture this year for her - (her film also screened at Chicago...she directed/produced/wrote "GO FOR IT!" -shot on Red)

Tip: Apple trailers don't play on my system. I'm certainly not alone. Have multiple links when you promote the film (youtube, etc.). Advice to all.

Good point. I just like to post the iTunes link because you can download the 1920x1080 versions - I've put it up on the Offhollywood site with HTML5 viewer - you should be able to see it on iPhone/iPad/Android here -

(can anyone with an Android let me know if it does indeed play?)

The film looks good, but am I the only one who thought the picture quality was just "meh"? It looked almost out of focus at times, the image lacked the clarity and "pop" of other films I've scene shot on RED. Hopefully it's just the trailer, and the actual film looks a lot better.

been waiting a long time for this. very excited to see it.

I'm amazed. Saw the trailer a few days ago and I remember thinking to myself "I wish RED footage looked this good". I thought it was film, totally fooled me.

Unfortunately Red is not often given the same context to work with as 35mm cameras - when it is, it surprises. You'd also be surprised to find out how many HD commercials are shot on Red, which you might have thought were film.

I actually think this is the most filmic red footage I've seen

+1

Going to show all DPs i work with who are new to RED this trailer!

Perfect example of what the original M sensor could do - phenomenal!

Great photography and superb grade - the DP and colourist earned their pennies on this one - very nicely done.

All the best,

Shot with the DPs old trusty set of STANDARD SPEEDS.

Any kind of softening in the grade? The roll off and softness and the smooth gradation in color were so filmlike to me....and I really liked Social Network, but this looks like 35mm to me...I'd kill to talk to the colorist!

looks like they def used a promist filter throughout...

(I cannot stand when trailers tell the whole story and even in order. Ugh...when will they learn that teasing is better than showing the whole thing.)

Looks great, though. I just missed seeing this at Austin Film Festival this week as I returned home Sunday. By the way, RED was well represented at AFF. Ed Burns shot his new movie (Nice Guy Johnny) with a crew of 3, yes 3 people. Audio straight into the camera. Mostly avail lighting. Talked with him after a panel. Great guy and TRULY has the indy spirit in him.

Another movie shot partially with RED there that comes out Dec 31st (hint, hint) is "Blue Valentine." It's a beautiful and tragic film about a relationship starring Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling. I think Nicole may have company come Oscar time from Michelle Williams. Beautiful, intense and incredibly well-crafted film with a very simple premise and story.

Nope, I didn't think anything like that. In fact, the total opposite.

Image looks beautiful. Well done. Can't wait to see it!
