Hey guys, so I'm finally getting an iPad but I'm not quite sure whether or not to get one with 3G. I am unsure on how often I'd really need an internet connection on the road - so my question is: how do you use your iPad? Would you recommend getting 3G? If so - why? Is the higher price justified?

Oh, also - should I be getting the 32GB or 64GB-version?

Thanks,
Tobias

I recommend 32gb wifi only. I bought the 3G and my iPad has never left my house except for last weekend when I flew to LA. I ended up turning on the 3G and burned through my 250mb plan in TWO days just from using google maps. The premium you pay on the iPad itself for the 3G just isn't worth it, especially if you own an iPhone.

Thanks, that's what I'm afraid will happen to me if I go the 3G route. Also, the plans here in Switzerland cost a fortune... One thing I'm considering is buying the 3G version and have a prepay plan. Hm...

Best solution is to jailbreak your unlimited data Android or iPhone (if you have one) to provide a wifi hotspot to wifi iPad if necessary.

Yeah, bite the bullet and get everything. The first time you need it and you don't have it you will bum out muchly. :banghead:

I just got the wifi version with hopes of worldwide wifi being available to all humans.. Jim!, Red-fi ?

Michael, I like that idea :)

Heheh, Tony, additional batteries is never a question. Paying another $50 / month for having yet another toy that connects to the internet is... :)

David, maybe I will bite the bullet, but I won't swallow it just yet. Means: buying 3G - sure, why not. But I guess I will stay prepaid for now...

Kalani - wifi for everyone and everywhere - what a nice dream. Or maybe not :)

Thanks for your input guys.

I'd wait for the Ipad mini:laugh:

I have a 3g and stopped using the unlimited $30 per month as soon as I got MiWi on my iphone 4, although it does eat your phones battery fast.

My vote goes to the without 3g model. iPad commonly used in the coffee shop, WiFi is everywhere ... and with other iPad accesories attains full functionality.
