Here is the first RED feature film that has made me say, "wow, that looks as gorgeous as film". I have no internal details on the production, but looks like a RED ONE MX shoot, no doubt. All my info comes from the DVD. Written & Directed by spanish director Julio Medem. Photographed by Alex Catalan. Kudos to all involved.

Gunleik, If you watch the film you'll see they really pushed into the shadows in some shots and it looked very very clean to me. Also the skin tones look wonderful, although I know this has more to do with new color science than the sensor, so who knows. It could have been M.

The highlights def look like an M beeing pushed a tad far.

Beautifull shots, though, and hard to make a Youtube judgement.

The M allways had nice lowlights, btw...
The MX only goes deeper. -:)

I like it! Beautiful cinematography and visuals.

Got get the one youtube comment removed however. He may be right that the trailer doesn't quite get into the story, but come on...pretty girls, that oh so smooth Castilian Spanish, and RED M or MX? They've got my money!

My spanish is not perfect by any means but is he saying it is a piece of crap having seen the film or by watching the trailer? Its obviously a little more than about two girls making out (I have a very limited issue with that though). You could say that last tango in Paris is little more than two people getting it on too, but its so much more.

Does like beautifully shot though

I totally agree with you, Tim! All I was saying is they ought to get the comment scrubbed!

BTW, the producers decided on English dialog for the main audio. The film was later dubbed to Spanish by the same actresses (I think). Very wired for a Spanish production. So if you purchase the DVD (or rent it) onset dialog is English. The additional languages track is Spanish. Just thought you should know in case you hate reading subtitles.

It's normal RED ONE.

Makes sense.

Funny how the old M sensor is suddenly "not good".

I have been working with post on a series and some promoshoots from M lately, while geeking myself up a bit on the MX, and I really like the M.

Not implying anything wrong with the MX it sure is a step foreward.
But the M is real smooooth.

Wonder what Jim does with all the old sensorblocks

The cinematography defiantly was amazing, but I felt like I was watching one of those fake trailers at the beginning of Tropic Thunder. Is this all indie cinema is now, soft-core gay or lesbian porn? On a technical side, the editing looks awesome, lighting looks awesome, music sounds great... but the premise... seems like one big indie cliche.

It's all good though, everything's subjective... This is just my opinion, I know there are people that love this stuff.

If it were up to me though, at the end of the second act the audience should find out that the brunette lesbian is actually a man who is part of a government project to swap the consciousness of one person to the next. So the real woman is actually trapped in his body somewhere in a lab deep in the Siberian tundra. Then all hell breaks loose. This would be a great setup for a cool 4-act story arc. Think "The Matrix" meets "Broke-back Mountain" meets "What Women Want". Now, I'd definably pay to see that...

...meets "Switch."

It's a Blake Edwards movie from 91.

"A sexist, chauvinist pig gets his just desserts when his angry ex-girlfriends murder him and he is reincarnated as a woman. "

No, indie cinema is also about drug deals gone bad, and semi-improvisational, post-modern, very lengthy dialogue about relationships delivered in L.A. diners and convenience stores. Those same convenience stores also are used for hold-up scenes.
