  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

First, even with the bugs, I still really love the Adobe products and their integration.

OK, I keep finding bugs and managing workarounds, but this one is really temperamental.

I'm editing a feature in Premiere that has quite a bit of embedded After Effects comps and some simple Premiere video effects. It was shot and I'm editing in 4K 2:1. All of my sources are set to 'low' (in both AE and Pr) and my editing widow resolution is '1/4' running and 'full' when paused. I'm running on Snow Leopard 64bit with 10GB of ram and a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT (non-CUDA, pity that... Hint hint...)

Sometimes when I render effects in a sequence, the rendered sections get squeezed about 15%, and black bars appear above and below the image. It is an all or none occurrence within the sequence. I've had luck with going into the Sequence settings -> playback settings -> aspect ratio conversion to none (which dumps out the render files) and then I'll render out the first effect. If the first one does not squeeze the image then the rest of the sequence will be fine.

I currently think the behavior works like this: If I dump out the render files and render an AE effect first, it goes successfully and the rest of the rendering will be fine. If I render out a Pr effect (like a fade in) it squeezes for that effect and the rest of the sequence's effects will get squeezed. I'm testing that theory now...

what is the resolution of your timeline. you have 4k 2:1 files, what are your aspect/resolution size of your AE comps? My gut is telling me that PP is getting confused with your 2:1, and possibly 16:9 you have mixed in the timeline? and if you aren't working with 4k comps it might be added confusion to the NLE. It's not uncommon that software that accommodates so much can be buggy at times. In fact, I've come to expect it from any NLE that offers up ingestion of everything on the market natively.

Nope, no 16:9 at all. Strictly 2:1 Some is 3K and some is even 2K, but all of my sequences in all of my files (5~7 sequences each on 5 files/reels) and they all do it.
