WOW !! THat's great. I thought the new HDRx from the off the charts thread was for epic's only.

Number 21 from the Nov 30th announcement was relevant to Scarlet 2/3 only. (according to the thread)

So this mean scarlet 2/3 will enjoy the wider dynamic range?

Will scarlet s35 also enjoy the benefits of HDR mode too?

#21 was originally listed on the list of Scarlet features that is linked on the front page. It will be in both Epic and Scarlet...but not on release. That's the last I've heard.

actually if you check the thread Number 21 was on the 2/3 list

#21 was on the Scarlet list (Nov 2009) far before Jim informed us of the possibility of a full fledged HDR mode (Feb 2010?), which we now know as HDRx. I got the vibe that #21 is something other than HDRx. A "magic HDR" mode. Look forward to some clarification / more details.

I guess the original post was a Scarlet post. At that time #21 was just a mistake. Since I forgot what I posted and what it was in reference to, I just thought this new magic HDR should go there since it is so cool. We are trying to see if we can implement it in Scarlet... but no promises today.

Jim

It must be very hard to add all these features because of the asic...
We are so proud ! ;)

Maybe #21 is a strong tone mapping with glow... :P

This mode was planned from the beginning and included in the ASICs (plural) design. We just now are at the point where we could bring it up in the camera. It works just liked we had hoped. Seeing it in our minds was one thing, seeing it in motion is quite another. :-) It has a look like nothing we have ever seen... in a good way.

Had to take a stab at it.

And just to be clear... #21 does NOT mean 21 stops.

Jim

Well I hope it works in the scarlets but if not i can handle it, the features/specs are still very attractive no matter how you look at it even without HDRx.

Have a good one, and keep on innovating.

Ahh well. I'm sure if there is the remotest chance then you will find it.

I'm back off to my editing. Goodnight Sir !

Of course if we can... we will. Just not sure yet.

Jim

HDRx in Scarlet would be off the chain (assuming it is as amazing as you guys say)

but, man... would be a very attractive feature for a very modestly priced (relatively speaking) camera... hard to resist.
