  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Contagion- Soderbergh...

The guy is an inspiration. Brilliant directing, gorgeous DPing, front line field testing, and smiling, all at once. :)

SJ, you are a slacker. I expect some fold-out centerfolds or something from you.

I'm so behind the times, while being on the road for the past couple o' weeks. Congrats to the engineering team and the rest of you guys at RED...

He'll be the first to shoot with a couple of epics for a 3D movie... :)

Note the very dirty sandbag...directing is a glamorous job... :)

I know. This is the kind of filmmaker I love. I think Chris Nolan is a genius, but his wardrobe certainly reflects his style of directing. What makes SS so great is that he never loses that hands-on craftsmanship that a true artist prides himself in (not that CN isn't an artist in his own right, just a different kind.)

I thought I'd post something relevant.

Funny.

This project and pirates carib 4 are going to be blockbusters and the amazing part is that Jim is sharing this tool with all of us.

For Ché, SS had two RED ONE prototypes at the bottom of a ravine in Spain with Benicio del Toro and 300 extras ready to shoot the 1st day. It was 100+ degrees and the CF card started working (for the 1st time ever) 30 minutes before the 1st take. There were no backup cameras there. There were no backup cameras at the hotel. There was no camera backup plan at all. SS never flinched.

Now maybe you'll understand why we like him so much... :-)

Note the 1st day ice pack... :-)

Jim

To advance an industry, one must take risk. The risk may lead to failure, but far outweighed by the consequences of success.

I envy Soderberg for the same reasons Jim mentioned - he takes the risks, he doesn't complain, he just shoots. Obviously, not everyone has as much clout as he does, and perhaps we can't all get away with taking those same risks, but the spirit in which he seems to go about his creative endeavors does seem like the ultimate man and his camera. If it means putting a package of frozen peas on it so it doesn't overheat, no problem. As long as the shot can be recorded, it's magic.

Is that the new "Stanley" tripod?

But it helps the unsuspecting reader. It points out that everyone can shoot with the same sensor on Ones.
Also, since this likely won't be edited ever again, it helps to think ahead and make proper record.
After all, this is cinematographic history. Isn't it? :-)

No it will be an Epic S35 MX Tattoo beta prototype. Monstro doesn't exist outside the lab yet.

save the need to add the mx eventually in the future when the monstro does become available:-P
