Granted, Snyder's film may not have the most cinematic value but you have to admit that his films look cool as hell!

Basically, it is Shutter Island, Inception, Moulin Rouge, Afro Samurai, Sky Captain, Kill Bill, Beowulf and and a little bit of Halo all in one film!

Too bad other comic con footage has not been released. I hear Cowboys vs. Aliens and the Thor footage was amazing.

This does look really good. Basically The Expendables with women on Shutter Island.

As for Thor, I'm really excited for it. I really liked Kenneth Branaugh's work with Shakespeare so, this should be good.

I did notice a distinct rise in the number of alien invasion movies coming out. 6 of them in the next year or so I think

For me, Suckerpunch has been best described as CG porn. There just about everything a VFX artist dreams of working on while instead doing the millionth screen replacement on some damn cellphone. I'm sure the story will not be much more than a narrative driving awesome visuals, if it is more than that; Bonus!

CG porn co-directed by Luc Besson and Baz Luhrmann.

Too much going on here..for example..you can make a ghost story or an alien story..
but you mix them.....it's too much for audience to take/believe.

Hmmm... Pastiche. I'm skeptical until I see it.

It's not that I don't trust Snyder as a director, but the stories of his last movies aren't quite strong.

It really depends, genres are rarely pure nowadays.

Mixing them properly is a challenge.

Are you saying we should delete all our posts about EPIC and Scarlet?

:lurk5:

LOL!

From the trailers the quotes from killbill and batman seem rather present.

Can be fun.

Watchmen was really bad for you, though.

is this movie on steroids or what? Overdozed.

Watchmen was pretty good.

But the extremely anti-climatic final fight scene in Ozymandias hide-out was a big let down for me.

However the Dr. Manhattan subplot gave me chills!

Watchmen was more or less a textbook on filmmaking. Watching that you can see how everything is deliberate and well planned out, from the wicked production design to the stylistic cinematography and editing, it's an example of good pre-production and production.

Or, to play Devil's Advocate here, it's a textbook example of how to adapt a comic book nearly frame-for-frame, and do it in an incredibly obvious, stylistically over-the-top way that still somehow manages to completely misunderstand and undercut almost all of the interesting themes from the original work.

Also, it utterly destroyed Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah.' Even more thoroughly than 'Shrek,' which is saying something. I don't think I can listen to that song ever again.

But yes, it's got great work by Alex McDowell. Larry Fong did a pretty good job, too.

That is true too. It is definitely not an example of good writing or acting. And yes, the music choices were some of the worst I've seen in any film, despite being the songs named in the graphic novel, those songs just don't fit well with the imagery.

I think that's the idea. Looks interesting. Emily Browning with weapons and explosions.... I'm there.
