  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What should I get Mac or PC ?

Wow...a couple of days away from the computer and 8 pages of posts have been written. Never thought my original question would turn into this. Thanks for battling out for me guys, very informative thread.

I think I've made my decision but I would like to know your thoughts on one more thing.
Is there any software (big important vital and industry standatd) that I would not have access to when going with one system or the other ? Or are there viable alternatives and solutions for each system ?
Again with my first example: Scratch is only for windows.
What about the Autodesk suite of programs from 3D modelling (Max, Maya) to compositing, onlining etc. or any other program for that fact.
I'm not an expert at using this programs and some i'll probably never use but I just want to know where i'm at with one system or the other If I'll ever need to install them.

Thanks,
Mike

Maya's latest version purportedly supports Mac. Max will purportedly run in Boot Camp or parallels.

Due to the video driver issue mentioned earlier, you will get better performance from either on a PC. :)

Cheers,
Tim

The fact that a MacPro can be booted under Windows by normal users without special IT skills makes it the more versatile machine.

You can run Scratch on a MacPro under Windows but you won't have the possibility to use a Nvidia SDI card. One example why PCs have their realm.
